I would remain cautious with Fold. I had the annual plus membership plan. They oversold the pay your bills with the PayPal feature. They made statements that they worked with PayPal to get the feature back, but then PayPal pulled the feature for most companies. I had no other use for the Plus membership.
If you plan to use the feature, go with the monthly plan. You'll pay a little more than the annual plan, but you won't feel ripped off if they nerf this program.
If you read my statement, I said this week they planned to buy $10,000,000. I’m well aware of BlackRock’s as a whole. That statement was probably unnecessary, but the idea was that a few articles I read made it seem like that was a large sum of cash; in reality, it’s not for a company its size.
With the financial market already playing a role in Bitcoin, ETF approvals in the U.S. are probably already priced into the current price. The last two months have had tremendous growth with little news outside the halving getting closer.
It’s has also been mentioned that Blackrock will purchase $10,000,000 Bitcoin this week as well, which is not really that much for a company there size. Basically, 233 Bitcoins.
The end of the hype with an approval will probably lead to a sell off so people/companies can take profits.
Ultimately, the approval will lead to an all time high since the approval from the SEC will lead to basically an unofficial statement that the U.S. supports Bitcoin and have no intent to “attempt” to ban it as China tried in the past with mining.
Bitcoin Magazine has slowed down a lot over the last month. No more Friday bonus sats, and articles at 5 sats each. Granted, it’s free sats to read Bitcoin news, but the rewards have gone down.
Fold is by far the best when you combine it with 1% back with PayPal bill pay. I pay almost all my bills this way and earn 1% back. Free sats without doing anything extra.
TOR is also great for hosting applications. A person can implement an umbrel node easily and remote in with a TOR address. No port forwarding is required, no need to use Tailscale which requires an email account and knowing your IP address.
Love the idea of a PWA wallet. Apple has too much control over its devices. The implementation is straightforward, but the barrier to entry is high.
I would consider this wallet to be at least an intermediate learning curve, and not newbie friendly.
To activate a channel, you must deposit at least 50,000 sats with 10,000 sats going to creating a channel. Depending on what part of the world you live in, that can be a large cost.
Correct me if I’m wrong, but Phoenix requires 10k sats too but no minimum deposit after that. Breez requires 2k sats.
Onboarding new users will probably remain as WoS (easiest but custodial), Breez, and Phoenix. Nevertheless, Mutiny is a great addition to the lightning wallet marketplace.
For Cuba, it makes sense. That being said, China is a country that has censorship on the internet, and is secretive. Are they more open with BRICS? Maybe, but can you trust them to not manipulate the yen for there own benefits?
El Salvador is on the right path. Debacle from a nation currency. Bitcoin is accepted world wide, and no nation can stop it. China “banned”crypto in 2021, and it continues to thrive.
