I love this!
I've long been interested in offering resources for sats - compute, bandwidth, storage, etc. And if you can make it easy enough to just install an app on Umbrel and start getting paid, then that could grow quickly.
Take all of the shitcoin projects like Golem, Helium, Filecoin, etc and build them on nostr with sats.
How would you test this initially? Downloading content from sites blocking non-residential IPs is the first prototype?
Yes. Same with Kagi for search.
There's a large and growing contingent of us who want transparent cost/value.
Mobile devices are low-quality internet time, that results in low quality social apps. More productive devices like desktops produce higher quality content, but at lower quantity correlated to mobile/desktop device time.
This is so true. I recently removed most apps from my phone (including messaging). I still have a browser but may cut that next. So far, so good. My laptop time is much more focused and much higher quality than mobile time. And SN gets the majority of it...
It was an excellent presentation! I love the way that @k00b thinks about Stacker News reaching net energy and becoming alive. This is one of the best models for what a startup (or any entity/life form) is actually trying to achieve.
And thank you for the kind words. I too think that Keyan is one of our era's great builders - not only in Bitcoin, but on all of the web. I'm always honored and excited to be part of the Stacker News journey.

If you like Graham, check out Howard Crowhurst as well.
Who are some other similar researchers/explorers you enjoy?
Great read! It's exciting to see ideologically adjacent folks discover and embrace Nostr. I like his focus on "nature's" many attempts to evolve the relay structure. I think this sort of structure is probably inevitable
It seems like music podcasts with embedded artists splits are really taking off - do you think this will be the first bitcoin/nostr native new content category to go mainstream?
I ran out of free lines, so it's missing ActivityPub/Mastodon (although it surprisingly only had 1.2k stars)
Fair - although I see Nostr as far more than a social media protocol. I see it as a new identity/meta-data layer on which to build all Internet applications. And I still think the comparison to BTC is interesting in terms of an open source project gaining developer interest.
But perhaps the new chart above is more instructive.
Based on feedback from @melvincarvalho, here's perhaps a better comparison:

I'm a huge fan of the AMAs! I'd love to see folks from fields adjacent to Bitcoin, e.g. builders and maintainers from:
- Nostr projects (e.g. see all of these)
- Other FOSS projects
- Open Source AI (e.g. Cocktail Peanut)
- Tech that promotes human development (e.g. the Kagi AMA #502409)
I'd also love to see more unconventional thinkers questioning mainstream dogma, e.g.
