Yes, it was too restrictive and I developed a poor relationship with food thinking that I was immediately going to get diabetes or get fat if I ate carbs and it interfered with my social engagements too much because I was always preoccupied with food and at the time I had an All or nothing type of attitude so if I wasn't being very strict on my diet then I was just eating a bunch of processed food and garbage so now I am less restrictive but I am able to maintain an athletic, lean physique all year round and if I want to have a rice cake or a vegan cookie then I eat it
I agree — the basics will get you far.
But most people never cross that line because of mental resistance, not physical limits.
Getting truly jacked isn’t just about sets and reps.
It’s about proof of work.
If you can delay gratification financially — stacking SATs, living below your means, and saying no to instant pleasure — you already understand the mindset it takes to build an elite body.
While others are chasing dopamine, you’re chasing adaptation.
You’re sleeping instead of drinking.
You’re recovering instead of overtraining.
You’re learning instead of scrolling.
I break it down simply:
Stimulate. Nourish. Recover.
Stimulate muscle growth through progressive overload.
Nourish with real food you cook yourself.
Recover with sleep, sunlight, and smart training splits.
Anyone can work out.
But the ones who win get comfortable being uncomfortable — and they make it a lifestyle.
I like blueberries and sweet potatoes too much to do carnivore anymore.
Ideally, you would consume at least 100 g of carbohydrates to replenish your glycogen stores but if you're not focused on optimizing performance then I guess you could do without carbs.
Is this something that you follow or is your diet more animal based?
