ecash with Cashu is very useful for letting friends and family use your lightning channels you have setup until more bitcoin scaling is developed.
Cashu is more like a gift card than fiat. #397764
On GraphineOS fingerprint is a second factor for convenience. If the phone is powered off the password is still needed.
It also isn't clear what long term effect they have on the head and face. Every electronic device has a magnetic and electrical field around it which does aggravate cells to some degree. Airpods also have RF to add on that. It probably isn't a good idea to have electronic devices on your head for long periods of time. We will know after a few generations.
Jack Kruse woke me up to this. Now I try not to wear any headphones.
I'm late but yes! I self host whenever I can for privacy and not needing to depend on another service so much.

An absolute classic I read many years ago. It changed how I viewed the world and primed me for accepting bitcoin into my life. A must read IMHO.
Thank you for reminding me of this great book!
I'm not aware anyone is forced to use Chivo. The Salvadorian government subsidize adoption by giving out money but nobody has to use Chivo as far as I am aware.
I don't admire politicians. I try to be a sovereign individual. What is the trap I should avoid?
It would mess up the model if you could convince the whole bitcoin ecosystem to send $4.20 and $42.0. Many people like the round numbers of $50 and $100.
I know folks who purchased a new home to be built in El Salvador all in BTC. I think that is pretty amazing. I don't know many other places where that is possible.
You could to in the Brisas of Surf City project in San Blas. https://www.brisasdesurfcity.com/
Investing in a business using a Bitcoin collateralize loan. The company holding the BTC for the loan went bankrupt and the BTC went bye-bye! 🤦♂️
Thanks for the welcome! I have been here for awhile but I saw the red square icon which reminded me to fill out my profile finally!
Did you get the USB working? I'm setting up a new node on Nuc with two m.2 harddisks using ZFS. OpenZFS has good documentation on how to do this.
My next node is going to be a Nuc with mirrored SATA M.2 drives using ZFS using NixOS. The documentation at OpenZFS is fantastic for setting up your own NixOS install on ZFS for the base filesystem. I'm still deciding if I'll do a immutable filesystem or not.
I love using ZFS for the auto snapshots in case any data needs to be recovered and auto scrubs for warning you in advance if a drive is failing.
If you are keeping BTC on the node or looking up addresses, don't forget about full disk encryption in case of theft. There is documentation of full disk encryption in the ZFS install guide and a way to unlock the system remotely over Tor in another guide.
