I pretty much did worse across the board today.

How'd you do today, stackers?

Still recovering from my 5k on Sunday. Even with the creatine I’m not back to neutral. Mind 40’s racing is tough. Especially when you run hard enough to be on the verge of puking. I think it was closing in a 5:27 mile and 75 second 400….

So besides feeling old, my outdoor running streak of 5+ years is still going, I hit the weights, cold soak, and are clean until my company picnic. I crushed the smoked meats there, but treated myself to cookies, icecream, and a few beers 🍻

From Once a Runner “if the furnace is hot enough anything will burn, even Big Mac’s”

Keep up the good work man. The way you've been running, it's all good that you treat yourself with some processed sugar and alcohol. Well deserved.

reply

Ha thanks! Ya only live once gotta have some balance. Hope your doing well on your end!

reply

Yea, I've been trying to stay active. Trying to maintain running 100km each month (piece of cake compared to your mileage each month), but @Undisciplined convinced me to run the bitcoin price every month. So, I'll give that a try starting this month.

reply

Ha that’s fun! Keep it up! To the mooon!

reply

You're going to have to run to the Moon

My main slip up today also involved workplace goodies.

Got pooped out shopping with the wife. My question is: “When does shopping ever end? It goes on and on and on with no respite.” Is this the reason I hate shopping and get pooped out whenever I get looped in?

reply

That feeling when you're still shopping, but you're sick of it, isn't fun.

reply

But why does it happen every time we go together? If I shop, it takes as little time as I can do it in. I go in, get what I want, pay and get out. Is that too much to ask?

reply

Pound a whole can of Monstee before shopping. The caffeine is a mood booster. You’ll be hyper focused on analyzing every purchase and it won’t bother u to not actually buy anything

reply

But, I have never drunk a can of Monster or any other energy drink!! I drink coffee or tea.

reply

All I can do is give you the cheat codes to life.

Up to u whether u want to cheat death

reply

I don’t think Monster is a cheat code for life, perhaps the opposite.

reply

For shopping at least

Yes.

It's a journey, not a destination. You got fucked, sir.

Ran around a baseball field chasing errant throws and hits by 6 and 7 year olds for around an hour and a half. It was good fun and exercise.

reply

Sure sounds like it

My daughter is the only girl on the team this year. At first she found that a bit “weird” but then she thought it was pretty cool.

reply

Ha! My daughter was the only girl in the 3-5 flag football league. She didn't make a strong showing for her kind.

reply

lol, owned by dad.

reply

She was the kid who just wandered around picking flowers. To be fair to her though, at that age lots of the boys were just crying and clinging to their moms.

reply

Haha maybe next year.

Went for a short walk with my wife after watching the NBA game. No runs nor box steps today. I guess I've made Wednesday my unofficial leg rest day? The push ups and cold shower continue though, those get no rest. Drinking day today; will pour myself a bit of fine Kentucky bourbon later tonight.

Today's stats:

  • 150 push ups (3 sets of 50)
  • 1.5km walk with wife
  • cold shower
  • 9846 steps

I think we've entered the part of the year that's either very hot or it's a thunderstorm, so I'll need to be more intentional about getting outside.

Got my daily 2mi in

Same.

No workout and ice cream at night. (But morning sun and stretch on friend's rooftop)
