Visited a home cafe today.
If truth be told, I still have a few lingering tasks to clear, particularly my recommendations for the course I think my Secondary 2 students ought to choose next year. However, I decided to go on a detour and hunt down “State of Mind”, which was located at Blk 935, Yishun Central 1, #02-37.
Even though I knew that this cafe existed (because my wife had visited it two days ago during her lunch break), my heart was inexplicably thumping as I approached it. It seemed surreal that a Yishunite would choose to operate a cafe from the comfort of his own home. As you know, Yishun has carved a nefarious reputation in recent years. Would I benefit from the benison of such wholesomeness?
Fortunately, I wasn’t disappointed. The cafe did exist, and I ordered a Dirty Chai Latte. To my surprise, it cost $4.50 - cheaper than an equivalent cup at Starbucks! More importantly, seeing the barista hard at work gave me a plentiful dose of energy. I received so much positivity. I wanna work on my own dreams too! 💪

I'll just be a lot lizard in that case. Go to the truck stops and service truckers, then go home.

Your question comes timely.
Here's what I'm thinking of doing as home business:
If people can earn Sats by selling waste, how much more would they achieve when they start accepting Bitcoin for selling farm products and groceries?

Objectives

  1. Fabricate stoves using locally sourced scrap metal.
  2. Produce pellets from farm and garden waste.
  3. Engage communities in sourcing, education, and employment.
  4. Build a Bitcoin circular economy for local trade.
  5. Promote renewable energy to reduce deforestation.

Community Materials Exchange

Inputs Bought in Sats:

  • Scrap metal
  • Agricultural waste

Incentives:

  • +10% bonus for sellers who accept sats

Looks like a walk up window. Did the cafe have any chairs and tables? Or everything to go?
reply
Everything to go!
I asked the owner. The cafe is his side hustle. He is engaged in another business with his family. I just admire how these Gen Z become multi-hyphenates in the pursuit of their search for the meaning of life

Run an online business from your home (like, work remotely), or actually have people COME to your home for services?
Those are two really different things. Matter of fact, I recently got an email to "register" for any home-run business, from my neighborhood association. I'm ignoring it.

If I had the capacity (time-wise), I’d do alterations and mending. I am blown away by how much dry cleaners charge in the US to sew on buttons or hem a garment… My sewing space is my happy place.
reply
Would you rent a space, or have people come to your home?
I've gone to a lady who has a tiny little sewing shop. She specifically says she's supplementing her Social Security income by sewing, just minor things like buttons and hems. She's fairly cheap. But it's obvious she's not doing it because of love of sewing.
