Are you the kind who would rather discreetly set off into the sunset? Or are you the kind who wants to announce your appreciation to the ones whom you leave behind?
Yes, this is me after working 11 years at my current workplace.

Irish goodbye. 🫡

You taught me that!
And I have used the phrase with my co-workers. Admittedly less funny than oni baba, though haha

Private appreciation and then a public "Thanks, so long". I hate drama so I try to not give it much time to develop.
Quietly disappear is a good option if you have no friends though.
reply
A quiet exit sounds good.
I think I’m the sort who tries not to get too close to my colleagues so that I can just finish my allocated work n F off. But somehow, some colleagues like to talk to me haha

I'm the opposite. I have gained many friends from jobs and gigs that I am still in contact with, but I think you have to if you're roaming and don't really have a permanent base... keeps one sane.

Do you have friends from different jobs and gigs who interact with one another? That will be fun

Yes I do! I also have friends that I know from different places that work with each other because I set them up.

Oh I love being a matchmaker like this haha

No parties just direct thank yous and well wishes to the important people. When I sold my business it was so long and drawn out because there was 6 months between when I told everyone I was planning to exit and when I did.
reply
Six months is indeed an overkill.
Are you working part-time these days?

Yes 5-10 hours a week usually. Sometimes a little more.

Great that you aren’t chained to the income afforded by your job xP

There are trade offs to that. My wife would like to move to a bigger house but then I definitely would need to work more and maybe even full time.
reply
Is it because your kids are growing and will need their own space in the future?
That’s what my wife will say
Always say thanksfull/goodbye , it s a must even if it was a short experience job. cause any experiences are a lesson :)
reply
Yes, just be suave and cool about things
reply
I'm a "So long and thanks for all the fish" kind of person. Simple and sweet.

I'm Irish (at least one half (genetically)). I like to just walk away unless I'm in a very small group where I'm assumed to be present.
reply
so you burn esfand too?
reply
There should be no good byes....just see you later's :) I don't remember who said this but I like it...
I guess when I think about my workplace I think about just walking out and never going back so there doesn't need to be any big thing when it is time....
It just is moving into another period of life
