The true nature of my exploitation did not become apparent to me until 2020.
Covid mania spread across the world and engulfed everything and almost everyone around me. The virus aside, it was the particular chemical properties of Clown World which were really the source of ignition for this inferno.
My only insulation from the heat was my (re)discovery of Bitcoin at this time. It gave me hope in a time when such luxuries were rare and hard to come by.
Ever since then I have been monkishly studying the political philosophy of Bitcoin, situating its written code alongside the words of Plato, Marcus Antoninus, Solzhenitsyn, Orwell, Hayek, Rand, and others. I do not need to agree with all of their words, but I appreciate that they have provided a kind of diagram of society and man from which one can gauge and measure fundamental ideas such as freedom.
It seems to me that what was lost in that great inferno of Clown World was our claim to freedom.
Freedom was sold off in a mortgagee sale for cents on the dollar right at the time when we needed it the most. In my country and many parts of the world people were locked in their homes and barred from society for months and years due to their personal medical decisions. Cashiers at cafes and bars were required to check the paperwork of their customers to ensure they were correctly injected and compliant, a national digital ID system was rolled out in record time to track ‘n trace every single citizen. A war, which no one can claim to comprehend, has been unfolding in Europe for months like an ongoing saga in a television show, and global economies have been hollowed ready for felling through manipulation by central banks and government in one massive coordinated effort.
All of this is impossible to understand logically, it is simply untruth manifest.
It is the opposite of Plato’s cave parable, for to stare into the blinding light of untruth is permanently blinding, and thus we can only label it as the schizophrenia of Clown World.
Since then my thirst for knowledge and understanding has grown into an obsession. The price action has become irrelevant for me, because the true value has emerged: Bitcoin represents an emancipation for humanity and the opportunity to claim back that freedom.
This is a grandiose claim, but I know there are many people here who know exactly what I mean. Others have articulated it far better than I can, but sound money, a Bitcoin standard, is the only thing that can save humanity from a dystopian future of servitude, austerity, and suffering.

To accept that indeed there is a revolution taking place, the question becomes “so what is my role in this?”

I have been seeking out an opportunity to get involved. But what does my involvement look like? I am not a technical person, nor a developer. I do not have access to capital or political favours nor am I of much means at all.
About the only thing I can do is talk and listen.
My first in-person meetup recently here in New Zealand was illuminating. Instead of swatting away the lowest-level FUD arguments as I had been used to for years, I was able to, for the first time, synchronise and ideate and develop new thinking with like-minded people. I was able to imagine what a better world looks like.
Those who understand the rare-earth element called freedom, and its isotope Bitcoin are deeply aligned. We exist in various strata of society and share common values.
It is exhausting and intensive as we still do not quite know the extent or the effect of our work. The domain of this project is unfolding daily as I learn more about CBDCs, the engineered recession, the IMF, the banking cartels, and so forth.
Perhaps my role in this is simply to talk and to listen? To write a few words and share a few stories?

Help educate people about bitcoin but only if they ask.
That's it, that's all.

if it helps, bitcoin is far bigger than everyone who works on it.
though there are many smart, well-connected, and wealthy figures in the ecosystem, no single person actually plays a critical role in advancing bitcoin, and that’s for the best.
i find it helpful to forget about what you can’t control, and focus on what you can.

Your role is to sow the seed of freedom around you. Start with your spouse, children and close family. Move on to friends, colleagues and people you encounter.
Don't bombard them with facts & figures, but lead a life of example. Acknowledge responsibility for your own life and the life of those who depend on you. Be a guiding light for those around you.
Actions speak louder than words - and, paradoxically so, the words of doers are often more credible than those of speakers.

It's obviously great that so many in the community are taking responsibility for their own educations, i.e., their own minds.
I would keep focusing on that, and on writing in general (this was a well written post!). Writing is also a great way to amplify what you learn. The more you sharpen a skill, the better you get at it, the more opportunities will just naturally come your way. You may end up "finding your role" organically and without (conscious) effort.

Kia Ora! I was at that meetup too and felt what you felt. What is our role right now? Especially in a place where 99% of the population don't think they need Bitcoin. I think you're right, it's just to listen and talk. And ask questions. We will never succeed by ramming this down people's throats. Ask questions that make them think hard. Kia kaha tātou!

just to point out there are also non-technical roles at Bitcoin startups / companies. working for a Bitcoin company could be a high impact thing to do, and you also get paid for it. win win

If you humbly orange pill two people with love and care, you will have done your part. From that point on, the matter is out of your hands and will unfold in whatever way it has to.

i’m on exactly the same page as you. It’s reassuring to know i’m not alone. I too am searching for my role in the revolution but for now I stack, educate myself, learn the tools, and try to build community and a circular economy. But I think ultimately this is the hill i’d be willing to die on.

If you can monkishly study the political philosophy of Bitcoin, then the abbot of the Bitcoin monastery who assigns roles to novices would probably be you. (The catch is, you might have to found the monastery first.)
That said, there are a lot of books that still need to be monked. I would nominate "The Sovereign Individual" as the golden classics that has not lost its relevance in 25 years and "The Network State" as the bold newcomer in the strategy department (although it's neither Bitcoiner enough nor libertarian enough, the direction is promising).
