Some people think resolutions are silly but, regardless of the catalyst, mass reflection and planning are undeniably good things.
My resolution is to make SN 10x bigger and better. (Also, maybe lose some weight.) What's yours?
Finish my citadel into the mountains. That's all. Is my priority for the next year.
A nice simple house, built by my own hands, with raw materials, a nice vegetables garden, surrounded by an impressive mountain valley.

One of mine is to stop using filler words when I speak.
Might set up a sat bounty for anyone who finds me using filler words in my podcast recordings.
reply
That's rough! I recall hearing somewhere that Sam Harris managed to do that.
reply
Interesting, haven’t listened to his podcast before, will check it out.
It’s so easy to forget I’m using filler words in the moment, but recordings make me well aware of their presence. I’m hoping this change leads to a side effect of being able to consistently ask more concise questions.

I think nail biting is the hardest habit to break. I've quit drinking and smoking for 10+ years both cold turkey, but despite trying, and some brief periods of success, I have not been able to quit. I hope you have success!

I don't do New Year's Resolutions for a couple of reasons, but I do usually set a number of "pillars" to build my life, focus and time around which I recently amended in the last couple of months.
My current pillars are:
  • Personal health & fitness
  • Learning & self-development
  • Personal relationship building
I typically evaluate decisions I'm making against my pillars to make sure I'm maintaining focus and trying to advance them as often as possible.
