Sorry about that everyone. I'm an idiot.
I shouldn't have done anything, but I definitely shouldn't have forgot to use SKIP_LOCKED.

My memory stinks. Isn't there a nostr site where you can advertise for goods and services payable in bitcoin? In want to rent out my trailer and am looking for a good place to list it.

I think that was it. Thanks. I'm going to give it a shot. I get shock and bewilderment when I tell a rental agent I will only accept bitcoin. I'm going to have to do this myself.

"I don't know how to skin a cat, but I'll let anyone skin my cat so long as they tell me with confidence, in a way that I understand, that they know how to. And especially if they tell me, with confidence, in the most dopamine quenching way, the people I've trusted my cat skinning to all these years have turned into cat skinning weasels. And especially especially if I have less in common with the cat skinning weasels. I mean, I'm not weasel, and the world is full of weasels, so odds are anyone not like me is one."
Okay I think I have a new fictiony thing to write.

I'm seeing new gen "bitcoiners" embrace stablecoins and shitcoins in service of stablecoin smart contracts - and not get any flack for it because bitcoin's influencers are busy losing their minds in circular OP_RETURN debates or have given up on bitcoin altogether, rich, bored, and out of their depth, convinced they're on a "bitcoin-critical" side quest.

Then again, maybe this is one of those things that's good for bitcoin/humanity and I'm just so captured by maxi sentiment that I'm an idiot.

stablecoins are, at best, marginal improvements to humanity, and at worst outright scams

Sad
But what do you think bitcoin "needs" most right now?
reply
30 sats \ 0 replies \ @Car 3 Sep
The sadder part is all the people climbing the uphill battle get no support outside of their inner circle and slandered in crypto magazine.
But if you play ball you get all the support and profit. 🤷‍♂️

Lots of lightning improvements. If not that, some 10x better alternative to lightning.
All that's left to do in bitcoin are hard things which is why I think people are spending their time doing other things. So in that way, I don't blame them. But I resent folks that quit when they encountered an obstacle yet claim they've actually received some greater calling.1

Footnotes

  1. The Alone tv show features this vividly. Nearly everyone quits because they "don't need to win" or "care too much about the life they left for the competition." That may be true in some cases, but most of them quit because they were pushed beyond their limit and can't admit that to themselves.

There are many losers in capitalism. Without it, there's no progress. Time for a dip?

What would you say is the biggest improvement lightning needs?
I also agree that LN needs to improve. Either that, or the LN tools people are using needs to improve. I've had too many failed payments--it leaves a bad taste and makes LN seem unreliable. I remember that I couldn't pay Bitcoin Magazine once because payment kept failing (this was circa 2021). More recently, I tried to buy from hongbaob.tc via lightning, and that also failed. Bitrefill and Stacker.News have both been pretty reliable, but that may not be fair since I have a direct connection to SN.

  • payment reliability and better channel management are definitely big ones
  • better receiver privacy
  • async payments
  • PTLCs
  • better programmatic interop (that doesn't always require installing some wrapping service)
tbh I don't know exactly what it needs. I only know that it doesn't have what it needs yet.

Is Core the big blockers and Knots the small blockers, or is it the other way around?
Or is this not a good analogy at all?
reply
120 sats \ 0 replies \ @k00b 3 Sep
As someone that thinks Core is right, Knots has much of the small block/pleb energy. Although, Core imo has none of the arrogance of big blockers. I bet many folks in Core would support a soft fork enforcing an OP_RETURN limit. They are just competent enough to realize relay policy is not the place to enforce such limits.

The drum-fire of propaganda that the Fed is manning the ramparts against the menace of inflation brought about by others is nothing less than a deceptive shell game. The culprit solely responsible for inflation, the Federal Reserve, is continually engaged in raising a hue-and-cry about 'inflation,' for which virtually everyone else in society seems to be responsible. What we are seeing is the old ploy by the robber who starts shouting 'Stop, thief!' and runs down the street pointing ahead at others.

25k sats + a lifetime membership upgrade at SATOSH.EE still up for grabs to whoever can find me a working solution re/ a problem with referral links in Wordpress/Woocommerce: #1195603
The issue seems to be that referral cookie attempts to set too late, after WooCommerce sessions have started or headers have been sent. On first visit, no session exists → cookie cannot be set → referral only works on second visit.
What I've tried to do is - launch referral logic at the earliest hooks - many times (even before posting this problem here) with different code snippets from ChatGPT, Claude, now also Lumo and Duck.ai (which, admittedly, also uses ChatGPT) but none of the solutions work. The end result is still the same.

Shielded

Shielded?

Yes. Let me think again. Maybe the options are too close in meaning

Please do more of these daily. It's fun.

insulated and shielded are directional, and it isn't the truth that needs protection, but me.
But blocked and covered don't sound right, either.
kept or withheld?
reply
I meant the answer to be shielded. Was thinking of insulated as a distractor because insulated against heat
