I've had my new Avalon Nano 3s up and running for about a week. It's reduced my estimated time to reach OCEAN's minimum payment threshold from about 50 years down to only 6. Will I figure out how to get paid out over LN before I reach the minimum payout?
The Nano 3s was really straightforward to set up. It would have been even easier if I had stuck with the default f2pool, but I wanted to keep using OCEAN because my BitAxe was already pointed at it.
It's already earned about 3k sats, which means it's going to pay for itself pretty quickly, especially since we're heading into winter and I plan on running the miners harder while it's cold.

Congrats. I set up a CLN node with Bolt 12 offers, but I'm not sure you have to now. I think the latest Alby Hub update has Bolt 12, which would make LND payouts possible, I think. Does Ocean still claim you need CLN?

I tried signing with Alby Hub, but it didn't give me the exact same options that were in the Ocean instructions and what I tried didn't work.
I'm sure either a forthcoming Alby update or someone smarter than me writing a guide will clear it up soon. Or, I'll just wait for a couple of years to get my payout.

I recall that @BitcoinMechanic talked about it in the AMA, and @petertodd thought phoenix might work, but that wasn't the case for some reason. I wonder if @Alby can weigh in.

What’s the minimum payout in ocean?
reply
I think it's a million sats.

So it does generate heat but doesn’t generate noise?
reply
Yes, it's much quieter than the BitAxe, while generating a lot more heat. It makes a soft pulsing hum, like you might imagine a space ship making in a sci-fi movie.

Is electricity cheap in your town?
reply
For America, it's fairly cheap. We do have peak pricing and I throttle them down during those hours.

Do you try to use BOLT12 to be paid in sats via LN? Someone write a guide for that: #851025 with the home miners it's lottery or LN payments, never onchain.
