No, Peter is wrong. Russia will not invade Ukraine.
I wonder how how many years Peter lived in Eastern (communist) europe or USSR, to know on the ground the situation.
Yes, Russia, is in a defensive mode and is very powerful.
Yes, Russia invaded many countries in the past and they did really bad things, including Ukraine where they killed more millions of people than the whole WW2
For all those that do not know what russian communists di in the past I strongly recommend to watch this documentary
But let's say it clear: what is Russia today is not the russia that was in USSR.
yes, as any other country, they want their influence in the neighbors but they are not invading anybody.
So let's stop this warmongering bullshit crap.

This is certainly what I want to believe, and what is happening today is not evidence that Peter is right. Peter does make a case for why Russia might want to dominate Uktraine, but it doesn't take into account other influences such as economic ones, internal political ones, and future relationships with other world powers.

I wish you were right, but Putin just announced on Rossija 24 live TV that "we decided to start a special military operation focused on demilitarization of Ukraine" (my translation) and the UN SG is trying to make "personal appeal"...

It's all just a distraction, is a media war from both sides.
Yuri Bezmenov warn the whole world many years ago in the 80s in his famous interview with Ed. Griffin.
Also Ed. Bernays in his book "Propaganda" was explaining all these in very much details, how propaganda works and how simple is to manipulate people's perception.

Are you arguing that "Russia will not invade Ukraine"?
I'm not talking about intentions and I know very well that propaganda is included - that's what invasion is. It may be a decent tactics for Putin to get leverage in media to deploy his own president and then pull out, etc.
With my family we have experience of being invaded by Russia and I have lived in the close area in the last years...
