Congrats to my Blue Jays in being the first American League team to clinch a playoff berth. Now they just need to hold on for dear life to the AL east title and #1 seed.
Here is what the playoff picture looks like with one week left in the season.
Astros and Mets on the outside looking in. Can they creep back in and take out the Ohio teams?
Sats for all, GR
I'm used to Mets disappointments, but this is going to be up there with 2007.

I am thankful that I don't follow baseball as much as I did that year. It almost killed me. Part of the pain was the abuse I received from my two close friends who were Phillies fans. They both passed away this year. I'm sure they are putting some sort of hex on the Mets from the afterlife.

What determines if a New Yorker supports the Mets vs the Yankees
reply
It's really very simple. All the douchebags root for the Yankees
reply
As a Los Angeleno I almost became a Clippers fan because their tickets are cheaper and thus their games a more pleasant experience... but the team just keeps doing douchebaggy things
reply
My wife is a Clippers fan. She doesn’t really follow basketball anymore but she was a Clips fan when she lived in LA because everyone was a Lakers fan.

At some point we will have Siggy on the pod to unravel this Mets/Jets and Yankees/Giants mystery.
reply
Sounds like fun!
reply
After we recorded the live chat of the fantasy football draft we punted around the idea of doing a "crash this pod" episode where we will post the recording session invite link the day of and the time we will be recording and anyone who dares can come on and crash the pod.
reply
That sounds like a good idea.

I was so high on the Mets going into this season. I thought they were a WS contender. They have been really disappointing in the second half.
Cohen has to be pissed. Isn't he paying something like 340M in payroll when you factor in the luxury tax?
reply
Yeah, but given his overall wealth, I think that's a little like my having to pay a $3 delivery charge on my Doordash order.
reply
Sure but you would be pretty pissed about that delivery charge if the order was 2 hours late. Haha

And @Undisciplined keeps betting against the Jays in my amazing custom market on Predyx. Lets see if it works out for him.
reply
It's a bold strategy
reply
The odds are in the Jays favour but I will say the Yankees have a very easy schedule so it might be more likely than the odds are reflecting. I think fangraphs has the Jays at an 86% probability to win the division which would almost assure them the #1 seed since the closest team to them other than the Yankees is the Mariners and the Jays are 3 games ahead of the Mariners with 6 left and hold the tiebreaker. I am not sure the odds should be 86%. Maybe 75%.

The Astro's are toast and I 110% am of the belief that Framber gave up. His stats have been just absurd he threw at his own catcher.... I mean he tanked his market so hard it is WILD
reply
Mariners are wild. After the trade deadline it looked like they would never lose again and then they lost 11 out of 12 or something stupid like that and now they can't lose again.

The Astros at least are playing super week teams so its up to the rest of the league to not stumble but.... I am not optimistic.
reply
You need to count on the Tigers getting back on track and beating up on the Guardians.

I don’t know if I wanna get hurt again by getting my hopes up up lol

Spoiler Alert
Astros and Mets both will qualify.
Reds and Red Sox will be out.
reply
Wow Red Sox out? That's bold but I like it.
