The first place only did jewelry no coins. Guy tells me a place that does coins. It’s a 40 min drive away.

yes, why not? I know will be easier to go to a buy gold shop, probably is the best option if in a rush to sell, because you'll get cash immediately, at an awful rate.
Selling P2P allow you to decide the rate, or at least define it with the buyer to find an agreement that fulfill both sides.
