Is it possible for a channel to close itself without any intervention from the wallet user?
A friend asked me about this irregular situation. He had an open channel in Phoenix and told me he found the wallet this way.
I clearly see that there was a closure and that the funds are returning to onchain, however he maintains that it was not his action, is it possible that this happens randomly without user intervention?
What do the experts think? 🤔

This happen when the user open the Phoenix app on 2 devices simultaneous. Go to Wallet info and see what is saying. I suggest to restore the seed in Electrum and move the funds elsewhere from there. Then start a new Phoenix node (uninstall / reinstall the app). You can send the onchain funds from Electrum ttko the new created Phienix node and will open a new cbhannel. But I would suggest to se a bigger amount as the 1st deposit so the channel will be bigger.

I dont know Phoenix's policy or general behavior regarding when they may close channels, but some LSPs sometimes close channels that appear stale/unused or have repeated failures/bad connections or keeping little funds (imbalanced and pushed towards their side) for long periods.
Only they can say why they did, really.

Either side can close a channel, so it is possible.
I don't know if it's odd or not, though.
