I don't have an emergency backpack. I'm not a big 'planner' but I'd like to get better; I tend to spend most of my time thinking 2 weeks out at most.

Prepping in this way though increasingly seems reasonable to me.

Possible good additions to the list:

• self-defense "tools"
• actual tools: rope, duct tape, multitool
• emergency comms, e.g. satellite phone, walkie talkies
• flashlight

If Internet goes down then 2-way radios will be a high priority item.

One copy in my head (memorized)
One copy inserted into an online blog
One copy inserted into a nice picture (steganography) and saved somewhere online
One copy in an encrypted USB memory (with TailsOS and with me always)
One copy in an encrypted USB memory hidden in a secret place, easy to recover

I don't need anything else.

I didn't know SN had a bigger prepper community.

I always have a swiss pocket knife on my key chain (i have this one: https://www.swissarmy.com/us/en/Products/Swiss-Army-Knives/Medium-Pocket-Knives/Huntsman/p/1.3713).
