PSA: Bankruptcies, insolvencies and rugpulls involving Bitcoin exchanges and credit products tend to happen when the BTC price dips sharply and unexpectedly. What is a blessing for the self-sovereign DCA stacker can be a nightmare for the leveraged investor. I know this as good as any bitcoiner, having lost coins due to both taking out loans against his stack as well as keeping his coins on an exchange or a yield product.

The good news is that you can learn from the mistakes of others, instead of your own. Take your coins into self-custody. "Not Your Keys, Not Your Coins" is more than a meme. It's a fact, and it's a warning. The offers available at SATOSH.EE help you gain sovereignty while saving sats.

For hardware: We have Coinkite gift cards at a 10% discount, Foundation Devices promo code SATOSHEE for $10 off, BitBox promo code SATOSHEE for 5% off

For seedphrase backup: We have Seedor gift cards at a 6% discount, Seed Keys premium discount code for $2.10: 10% off

And as a bonus, you can get wallet cases and OneKey hardware wallets from https://satosh.ee/product/cryptocloaks-gift-card/

Stay safe out there, stackers! 🤠

@BlokchainB try this and see if it brings your pub back up

rm ~/lightning_pub/logs/eventLogV3.csv && systemctl --user restart lightning_pub.service

this should clear out the flag that's blocking your database, proper fix in the works

reply

It did my wallet is now back up and running! Thanks.

Also I want to compile all the commands you provided to run in terminal to help other beginner Linux users to troubleshoot their lightning.pub node

reply

Fantastic!

I finally started working on https://docs.shock.network which has a troubleshooting section now

reply

Nice!! I see some the commands I ran! I also posted an issue about the UI using the iOS wallet. Did you see it?

Can you link me? A screenshot and phone/os model would help so can repro in an emulator

My life improved significantly when I removed access to "information on demand" from my phone. I have uninstalled / disabled all browsers and app stores using ADB, retaining only the essential apps (maps, communications, wallets, etc.).

A phone is an experience blocker; people primarily use theirs to distract themselves from uncomfortable emotions like boredom and loneliness. Life becomes much better when you stop self-medicating and instead learn to sit with these feelings.

I have dedicated environments for dedicated tasks. I can only access the internet via my PC. For good measure, I made it a standing desk.

Personally I have had enough internet for one lifetime, so I try and stay in the real world as much as possible...!

Slightly alternate (but compatible) framing: the boredom and loneliness aren't something to be avoided (w/ phone) or endured as an absence of the positive emotions you wish you were having, but an actual presence, a key psychological nutrient as important as vitamin C.

Like w/ vitamin C, the deficiency doesn't kill you right away.

reply

I should do this more often I’m so phone addicted

reply

I know it sounds crazy, but I don’t even have a smartphone. Notifications are digital crack!

reply

How do you check SN on the go then??!

reply

I only get online when I’m at home or at work.

I strongly agree with this. In social scenarios, I often refuse to use my phone. However, I also really enjoy the ability to have information on demand. I believe it makes me more productive. There is a possibility though that I'm tricking myself.

When I run, I always leave all tech at home. Inevitably I come up with good ideas or think through problems that had been stopping me.

Maybe the ubiquitous information availability comes at the cost of deep thinking. That would be a steep price to pay.

It's a bit of a fucked up idea for an apocalyptic horror film hahaha, like evil robots that become stronger and more intelligent as they eliminate living beings and absorb them (I would watch it)

The notoriously steep dip in results from Pri 4 to Pri 5 has been well documented and painfully lamented by parents.

Here’s the thing. Pri 4 Science is frightfully easy. I let my son try the first six MCQs of my school’s P4 paper and he got five out of six correct. The question he got wrong dwells on identifying the young plant in a diagram - hardly one to get right for someone unexposed to the mechanics of Science papers.

Not to say that my son is exceptionally brilliant, but it’s a testimony to how sophisticated preschool education has become these days.
