@k00b how does one get an SN user's email address from their profile? Strangely I was contacted with the email used on my profile.
reply
Are you sure? It’s not public info
reply
I don't know how he would have gotten that email address, its only used for about 3 things and SN is the only way this identity is tied to that email.
reply
Oh wait, ignore. it was my own fault. Sorry for scaring you like that

Aff, thanks for creating the space hahaha. I'm doing well, I'm just a little stressed. I quit my job a few days ago, and I have a trip to another country in the middle of the year that I have to manage. In turn, I could finish paying for it with my savings, but you know: when you save in crypto, and even more so when you have made many plays 3 years ago, selling now is not an option. I don't choose to believe, I choose to hodl lol.
I hope you guys are having a great day!

continuing the deletion feedback:
it also solves the issue with money. someone tipped bitcoin because they like what was said. if you keep the content but delete the author attribution, the tips still went to a good cause because what was said was still said.
reply
There's definitely a case to be made for a delete of that kind. The problem is there's a case to be made for the way we did it too. And cases to be made for refunding the money. Or not allowing deletions at all.
All are valid in certain contexts and invalid in others. We opted for the design that we think had the best tradeoffs in terms of giving the author a lot of control and suiting most contexts.

I guess another argument against still showing the content would be that PII could have been included or other stuff still relating to the author.
I see your point, thanks for responding!

I don't really believe in dreams as predictions, but someone in a dream recommended a book to me.
I thought the book didn't exist, that it was a silly dream book.
Then I ended up buying a book with the same title about a week later as a result of a research rabbit hole.
reply
There's a possibility I'm self-deluding and backfilling my memory, but hard to tell for certain. I never maintained a dream journal.
reply
Maintaining a dream journal is a great experience. Helps with lucid dreaming too I'm told. I need to get back into it as well ;)

I am planning a holiday to El Salvador with no luggage. This means i have to buy anything im going to need :D even a suitcase for when im going back home. I think it will be cool and i will support El Salvadors economy ever so slightly and hopefully have a wonderful time. Will bring USD cash and BTC, intend to use BTC only. A little bit excited.
reply
This is the way to support the circular economy.
(assuming you have discretionary funds for a new wardrobe).

Trying out Keet to transfer files from mobile to desktop. Absolutely terrible.
Text in the chatroom works fine both ways. Files from desktop to mobile fail, from mobile to desktop are incredibly slow.
A lot of hype for really poor results, even in alpha
reply
Absolutely agree. It is baffling. What were they doing for the last entire year if both the UI and the p2p is so bad??
For me, even the chat doesn’t sync. Left mobile and desktop just sitting open and sync stopped. insane.

Which Nostr web client is working best for you guys?
reply
I'm liking https://hamstr.to/ , very clean Twitter-like UI.
That said there is no single app that gets everything right, so I'm using multiple (hamstr, iris, snort) for different things. Power of protocols
reply
iris.to is great. martti is constantly updating and improving.
others to look into are coracle, snort, and daisy.

Today I didn't make much progress with my project because the API I was using suddenly stopped working. I looked into a few other APIs, such as LNPay.co and Zebedee, but I'm going to take a break from my project and work on a pure dart package from tomorrow. Additionally, I received an email from the Coinkite team saying that they might reach out to me if they need my skills. In conclusion, I'm looking for a job as a mobile app dev and if you need someone who knows Flutter and Dart, that's me. I'm listening to "Savior by Kendrick" as I type this. Bye!
reply
River offers a lightning API too btw
reply
Thanks for the info! I'm definitely going to look into that.

I have always thought that the evolution of a BTC maxi is as such: buy BTC in the beginning, succumb to FOMO and buy low-cap moonshot coins, get yourself burnt and make BTC the focal point of your portfolio. You may believe in BTC so staunchly that you mentally disassociate it from other cryptocurrencies, classifying them as shitcoins.
But the longer I spend in this space, the more I realise the nuanced nature of the journey of BTC HODLers. There will come a time in which you come to the realisation that the least interesting thing about Bitcoin is its price movement. Either you have DCAed into it for so long that the habit is ingrained in you or you are actively using your sats. Some of you may get sats cashbacks from the Fold card; others may get sats from generous Internet strangers on Nostr. You no longer care about the noise out there. You just know that regardless of what happens out there, Bitcoin will occupy a prominent position in your life. Nirvana may not be too much of an exaggeration when it comes to evaluating your state of mind.
Do you find yourself caring less and less about the price movement of Bitcoin the longer you HODL it?
reply
Certainly, I basically followed that same evolution you laid out. Hope the price falls again to buy more lol.
I saw some friends this weekend that I always tell to buy bitcoin, everyday, "just buy a dollar a day at least!" I say. I was asked what my average price was, I said "I have no idea, only number that matters is the number of satoshis going up"

I hadn't known of this personal finance youtuber before but right near the end of this video he advises this gal to pay off her high interest rate credit cards by selling her stocks, selling her car, swearing off restaurants, etc, ...
but see her reaction when he tells her she also has to sell her bitcoin.
(the RobinHood part occurs at about 0:52:00 into the video, and then the bitcoin part is at about 0:54:30, and where she refuses to agree to sell her bitcoin is at 0:55:55).

I have heard before that you can batch channel opening transactions into one onchain transaction to save fees.
Has anyone heard or seen a GUI tool (node app) created to do this let? I see online various command line tutorials at the moment.
