It seems like Africa might be a bright spot. @jasonb would have firsthand knowledge of that.
I can absolutely confirm that one can onboard lots of people with just a few comments after hearing almost any random part of their life story. In SA this is especially true of foreigners, which makes me think the rest of the continent is even more primed. You can’t do that in Ohio… Africa will be so easy to convince…but even in the western cape of SA, there are tons of people who don’t know what Bitcoin is until you tell them.
I also saw first hand how the sausage is made. Custodial solutions are convenient if you’re using Bitcoin as everyday money and don’t have secure options for multi-sig. At least they don’t use Larry’s companies though. Personally, I think Africa is really primed for super explosive action with fediments.
I promise I’ll be writing my perspective on some of this soon. We got back to the US yesterday after some rough travel with the kids and are licking wounds right now.
