I'm a content creator and went exclusively BTCPay server only for funding my work. Most of my viewers are somewhat knowledgeble of BTC and Monero but feel iffy about lightning payments and i routinely get asked "errr how do i just send you real money". What wallets do people recommend? I guess I'm looking for something that people who have little to no knowledge would comfortably be able to use, lightning preferably since it's so quick, and has the ability for them to fund their wallets in the app as that shrinks the amount of steps. I personally use zeus and exodus lightning on mobile but they aren't really the solution to normies. Thanks fellas, God bless.
Send them these:
Exodus is a multi-crapto app. Stay away from any multi-crapto. BITCOIN ONLY.

shilling your substack is lame but thanks for trying to help I suppose

As a "content creator" this is a lame comment. People like Darth create guides. If people find them valuable they will exchange value for them. I assume you promote your content somewhere or it is promoted for you.
reply
Darth's guides have helped countless people and they'll help you if you let them.
reply
you misunderstand, my viewers don't want an essay, they just want simple app recommendations
reply
Wait, do you mean you don't wanna research for your viewers. Yeah I get you want recommendations but there are always tradeoffs. We can't just say use wallet X. Please tell me you will actually do research on what you recommend beyond just asking for a list. I'm not saying you are lazy but it sounds like that if you can't be bothered to read a short article comparing wallets.
reply
i already know whats in the articles, in fact, i've seen them before. I'm just curious about apps i HAVEN'T heard of which is why i put a discussion post in here, new stuff is coming out all the time. I've explained things dozens of times people still say "bla bla crypto boring i just wanna give you money". Being darth's attack dog is lame bro, get a job

I get what you are saying now, but this was not how you came across to me. No intention of attacking you. No worries. The simplest wallet I have seen and tried is Wallet of Satoshi. It has issues as others have said. Muun is probably the one I recommend for newbies most often. Has tradeoffs. Phoenix is also a simple one that I've been trying out for normies. Without more criteria it is hard to know what you are looking for though. The space is new and experimenting is just part of it. People have to be willing to invest some time and learn. If they don't they will get burned.
reply
lol, attack dog. Ha, whatever.

Education is key. If they are lazy and don't want to read and learn, fine. HFSP. It's your duty to educate them.

Phoenix and breez are lightning wallets on training wheels. I mean they are real lightning wallets, but they don't give you the control to establish a channel with whoever that something like blixt would.
When you talk about normies, you're looking for training wheels and so that's your solution.
reply
That's not true re Breez
reply
Breez lets you establish a channel with whoever? I haven't figured out how to do that in breez yet anyway. You got instructions? Coming from someone comfortably using blixt.
reply
Blixt is great... We cater different users, but fyi: https://doc.breez.technology/Opening-Channels.html

Wallet of Satoshi is pretty, pretty, pretty simple and nice.

Wallet of Satoshi is one of the easiest to use, if not the easiest, although it's custodial, so I'd advice to use it at the very beginning, for learning about LN and practicing making and paying invoices, or for use with small amounts for day to day payments.
For larger amounts and keep learning, I'd advice using Phoenix, which isn't custodial but you don't need to open your own channels; ASINQ opens them to your wallet whenever is needed (you receive a larger amount than your current inbound liquidity.
Later on, you can go to a wallet where you manage your channels, like Electrum, for example, which has a desktop and a mobile version, and support several hardware wallets, and also allows you to connect to your own Electrum node.
reply
First timers I too say WoS.
If they are custodial curious, then Phoenix.

Strike uses lightning, and is awesome, but it is not a lightning wallet.
reply
No, but he can use it to have people pay him with cash, like he was asking. Then lightning that to himself if he wants.
reply
The LN wallet really won't make much difference, they're all essentially the same an interface with your node, if you plan on using LN non-custodial
Simplest of simple would be to use an interface that has a custodian like Wallet of Satoshi or get Alby, or you could be the custodian for your users, by spinning up your own LND hub and getting your users to just add to the wallet they prefer, lets say its blue wallet,
Then you abstract all the complexity and they can just ping payments as they please
reply
Muun - I know people say it is not a true LN wallet, but it works very well and is easy to use, so in a way who cares about the underlying tech if it does the job and helps bring more people onto the network. (of course custodial)
reply
Its a swap which sure is custodial, but that isn't what bothers me about muun. What bothers me is that its charging you on-chain fees! How much were your "lightning" fees during the Bitcoin NFT hype filling up the mempool?
reply
A bit pricey, that is true.
