Hey, i've been using Wallet of Satoshi for the past few months, never had any issue with it however recently i've been thinking about moving to a self-custodial wallet.
I want to avoid any counterparty risk, hold my own seed/keys and de-Google my life slowly. Already did some research however i just want to ask you guys opinion is Phoenix is the best way to go ?
Muun : (+) Self-custodial (-) High fees bcs it actually perform Submarine Swaps in the background
Breez : (+) Pretty cool UI (+) Self-custodial (-) High fees (-) Unreliable, sometimes i'm unable to make or receive payment ? (-) It uses Google as a backup option
Phoenix : (+) Self-custodial (+) Open source, more eyes will bring more ideas
SBW & BlueWallet is dead
I don't know much about BLW, Zap, Lntxbot, Zeus, Eclair,Alby, Kollider, Nayuta and Electrum.
I just wanted to store my sats securely until one day i can setup my own node, any suggestion is appreciated :)
Here you have detailed guides about LN wallets:
SBW & BlueWallet is dead
TOTALLY WRONG
de-Google my life slowly.
Muun REQUIRE Google play services, that means is tracking. Muun is controlling your xpubs, otherwise it cannot do those submarine swaps for you. So I would name it "tracked non-custodial", the "muun abomination"...

Alright i guess Phoenix is the way to go. Bitkit, Blixt and Nayuta is still early project and not time-tested yet. I won't risk my sats. Thanks Darth for guiding me to the right path :)

Honestly, I keep so little coin on Wallet of Satoshi it's no big deal to me. Majority of my Bitcoin are in cold storage on a hardware wallet.

Phoenix and Electrum are excellent. With Phoenix, ASINQ manages your channels for you, and with Electrum you manage your own channels.
Muun isn't a Lightning wallet, that's why it's so expensive. And, although it's supposed to be self-custodial, you need to trust it during the submarine swaps. It sucks so badly...

Are u actively using Phoenix ? How much inbound capacity per channel ?
reply
Yes, I use Phoenix all the time. I currently have 7 channels, with different capacities ranging from 113,000 sats to 1,630,000 sats.

Thanks for the recommendations, i come up with the conclusion that i will setup Phoenix wallet asap. Well what i mean by de-google is i try to use as less service from them but maybe one day i will test Pixel smartphone that you recommended. Once again, thank you so much for your kind reply :)

Phoenix is what I keep getting recommended but I have a sneaky feeling the "best" wallet if there is one for yours and my needs is yet to come out tbh. One of the exciting things about this space is its still really early and the best stuff is probably gonna come out of people from genz and younger.

I also think it is the second best we can get right now. After all the best wallet is your own node anyway :)
