So I walked into work today and someone was talking about how cool it would be to have a website for their band when they play shows - audience members could request songs from a list and send a tip, and the highest paid tipped song would go to the top of the list. There are already apps/websites for this, but his bands don't use them and have their own way of solving this problem..
weeellll... I'm a bitcoin-lover who just started learning JavaScript and I jumped on the idea to help him. I whipped together a demo site in a few hours but I'm a total pleb and honestly used ChatGPT.
I wasn't sure how to enable payments (he uses Cash App, Venmo, PayPal, or just cash) and I told him I only know how to do this with bitcoin lightning invoices. I know that Cash App allows users to pay lightning invoices and I'm going to use a lightning payments company an acquaintance of mine founded because I've already played around with it.
First, he was blown away (we're both firefighters and most of my co-workers have next to zero IT skills). Second, no one at work cares about bitcoin and they put up with me talking about it... BUT, once I mentioned that I may be able to do this with bitcoin lightning payments his mentality was like "whatever, cool." If I can build a website for him then who cares how it works as long as he's paid in USD.
I'm basically just asking if anyone knows how I'd be able to pay a lightning invoice in Cash App. I don't think a QR code would work because it would pop up on the user's iPhone screen when they request a song and you can't scan a QR code that's on your screen... and I'm not sure Cash App allows for copy/pasting of LNUrl's like many wallet apps. I'm sure 99% of people in the audience aren't going to download Strike, or any other app, and also those who don't have Cash App will be SOL as I don't think Venmo or PayPal enable this feature.
I use Damus on iOS and I know you can send Zaps with Cash App...
Is there a way to do this?
