I've heard of a lot of people that first heard about Bitcoin from the Slashdot article and ignored it. I was probably one of them since I know I visited Slashdot frequently at the time.

Reddit is a total piece of dogshit.
Why do they archive (lock) threads after six months? Why can't I leave a comment to that post?

It spread in parallel through 2 threads: the scientific community and the Linux/Tor/hacking/WikiLeaks community.
I hope the Bitcoin peeps never forget the legacy of the later one!
