How did you become a BTC maxi?
The term “BTC maximalists” seems to be used as a derogatory term by people who dismiss BTC as an archaic technology. But of course, I’m sure people here wear this label as a badge of honor since so many interesting things are happening with BTC. Taro, Nostr, Cashnu - the possibilities are limitless. Even MicroStrategy aims to launch BTC Lightning Solutions next year.
Did you start out your journey by solely investing in Bitcoin, appealed to its decentralised nature and limited supply? Perhaps you were proactive enough to figure out how to run your own node? Or do you belong to those who invested in altcoins, got rekt and gradually came to the realisation that being a true OG was the path to enlightenment and financial freedom?
Probably due to the great education going around, & asking yourself better questions like why is immutability important? Is it decentralized? Is it censorship resistant?
These questions are more fundamental & change the way you view other forms of money.

I agree it’s important to remove our blinders n examine critically the role of money.
Bitcoin hits different!

My old friend ObiWan made me a BTC maxi... long time ago. From the first day, Bitcoin only, never step into shitcoining. Why? Because for me, Bitcoin is sovereign money, is freedom, is not an "investment" or a get rich scheme. Is simply how to fuck the banksters and govs.

How do you get your articles translated into five languages? Effortful
reply
I speak fluently 4 languages. Usually I write all my guides by default in English and Spanish because is the largest audience. Then I have some volunteers bitcoiners that are doing on their own other translations, some of them even on their own substack or other webs, for their local communities.
I encourage anybody to take my guides and translate, adapt do whatever you want, for you local communities and use them as teaching material. I do not raise any copyright bullshit. Bitcoin education must be free for all.
I am in the process of making a copy of all my guides on github. If you want to do other translations, you can collaborate. https://github.com/Darth-Coin/darth-coin.github.io

I just wanna ask you if I only have Bitcoin in my portfolio, does this also make me a Bitcoin maxi?
If yes, then I'm now a maxi. I have recently got rid of any Altcoins I had and converted all of them to Bitcoin'.
reply
Well you clicked on my article because you thought you would be able to relate to it, no?
Bitcoin must be worth it if you suffered through taxes converting shitcoins to it haha
reply
No, I didn't suffer a bit. So you're saying that holding only Bitcoins doesn't make anyone a maxi?
reply
Most bitcoiners are contrarians, and as a previous shitcoiner (who lost money betting on losing horses and NFTs) I can honestly say that there is a peace and serenity with leaving discord groups full of people trying to hype each other up whilst secretly wanting to dump their bags on those people in the future + endless people entering the group to shill their special brand of shit. Once I joined Bitcoin telegram groups, the shilling stopped. I learned something very important, everyone is hoping that others will value their token so that they can sell it and make more USDC or BTC. This is just the cold hard truth. So as Pierre Richard and Bitstein like to say, "Everyone's a scammer", they all want your bitcoins. Additionally I learned that whilst my fellow shitcoiners were consulting with lawyers and talking about their favorite brand of paid tax software that can untangle the endless buys and sells and staking of DeFi, bitcoiners are talking about self-custody, not reusing addresses, non-KYC, peer-to-peer transactions and opting out of the fiat system altogether. Who cares if people say toxic, HFSP. Scam someone else out of their precious sats, I'm not a mark anymore.

I think so too! It took me some time to realise that my run-of-the-mill post about Bitcoin’s price action would just not gain any traction here! Everyone’s just happily doing their own thing haha

Decentralization. My government has blocked me from making truly good and legitimate payments before. Not anymore. Fuck them.

That’s f***ed up. Hope you don’t have to deal with this shit anymore
