Which figure, if orange-pilled, would have the greatest effect on bitcoin adoption?
  1. Name the person (needs to be a real, living person)
  2. Why you think this person would increase bitcoin adoption
The reply that makes the best case wins 1000 sats.
I'll go first (although I obviously am not a candidate for the sats):
Brendan Eich. He is CEO of Brave Software. They have an awesome browser that, among other features, allows you to earn money in return for your attention (i.e. they pay you to see ads). The idea is brilliant, the problem is they have their own token. If they switched to using bitcoin over lightning it would be a great way to onboard millions of people who might not otherwise care about bitcoin. Arguably, it might even increase usage of Brave browser because projects associated with shitcoins have an aura of illegitimacy (although, again, Brave is a legit product and they aren't really pushy about enrolling you in their rewards program).

The Pope
If I could orange pill the Pope it might spark a massive adoption surge in the following manner:
I've read articles claiming that there are around 1.2 to 1.5 billion baptised Catholics around the world. If these figures are correct and you assume that a large portion of them are truly devout to their beliefs and, in general, accept the teachings and beliefs that are handed down from the Vatican, then it's a good lineup for a surge in adoption because the Pope would declare Bitcoin to be a divine money or money literally sent from God (either because he is convinced that it truly is a gift from above or because he sees an opportunity to collect some of that sweet, global tithe)
Naturally, the church would start accepting Bitcoin and the Pope would prefer people send Bitcoin (the better money) instead of fiat. As word spreads to followers around the world that the Pope declared Bitcoin a "divine" money and encourages people that donations be made in Bitcoin, it would cause many Catholics to expose themselves to Bitcoin when they likely would not have
reply
On the other hand there's already some people who think the Pope is the antichrist, and America, which has a strong interest in the current fiat system, is protestant. Seems like a good way to start a religious war.
reply
No doubt it would spark a lot of publicity for Bitcoin though?

I will repeat this million times until people will understand it:
"Influential figures" do not bring adoption. That is named dumb heard following an influencer. That's stupid. I didn't get into Bitcoin because some influential dude on internet say so. I did it because I read what is Bitcoin and learn more.
Stop this bullshit sheep following some dude. Bitcoin is for individuals not for followers.

I disagree that everyone being a sovereign individual is a prerequisite for bicoin adoption. Adopting bitcoin can, however, put people on the path to being sovereign individuals.
Most people simply want a seamless way to send and receive money. If that money happens to have an uninflatable supply, great! And I think that on-boarding people based on this principle is important.
Also, I didn't say "influencer" which is just a scantily-clad 19-year-old girl who promotes whatever she is paid to promote. By influential I mean strong network effects that when applied to bitcoin adoption will be very efficient. If Apple were to announce that all new iPhones will come with a lightning wallet pre-loaded with 10k sats, you'd see mass adoption worldwide within a year.

Bitcoin is a natural selection. Those that will not understand where is going, will remain behind.

Same shit but at a higher level. I never blindly do what any influencer say. I don't give a shit about all of them. I have a brain that could think and take decisions by myself.

That is the dumbest thing ever. Those are stupid sheeps.

Clearly you cannot be reasoned with!

I agree with the Brave Browser idea. I’m deficient in the tech department so I was wondering, would this be a relatively easy / seamless switch for the company to make, or would it be a large and complicated undertaking, so much so that it wouldn’t be practical? I don’t know why anyone would stay with the sh*t token model if they could integrate bitcoin. There are also probably a lot of PR dynamics at play regarding the ICO of the BAT token, what would need to be done to phase that out, and what it would mean for the company in terms of pulling the rug out at this stage
reply
If there is an easy enough way to swap BAT for BTC while maintaining some level of privacy and anonymity I would like to know about it, I’ve never looked into it.

There apparently was a fork of Brave that used lightning but it is now defunct or never got off the ground:
Also, apparently there's an SN post about this with some interest links that I need to check out:
