I am very new to LN does anyone have any suggestions as to which LN wallet I should use? I've seen some good things about phoenix wallet but read on nostr that it doesn't seem to work due to not having a LNdHub feature.
All my usual wallets such as exodus also don't seem to be options either.
One I've seen is Zeus. Is this something others have experience using. I looked at a guide which was written in such a way that made me very suspicious. U instead of you. That sorta thing.
So yeah, what's everyone's most trusted LN wallet that they use with Nostr?
Edit: meant to add, I'm accessing Nostr via Amethyst.
Most lightning wallets don't yet support LNURL yet. There are some but probably the best but still easiest for Nostr is Alby. Phoenix to my knowledge doesn't yet support LNURL. Just put a few thousand sats on Alby and test it out. This is a great way to learn.

My advice is to wait 6 months and see how things are then. I feel like it's too early. :)

I like Wallet of Satoshi!

If you want zap automatically you have to choose something that supports NWC (Nostr Wallet Connect) and probably Alby is the easiest solution, but custodial. Mutiny supports NWC and is self custodial + open source (but mind it is still in beta). Otherwise you can use Zeus, great and open source, in the next major release it will include a full node too!

Thank you. I might play about with these and see how they feel.

You can use your "stackernews wallet"

That would have saved me a little bit of hassle. I had wondered if I could link it.

I use Amethyst and WoS. Yes, there isn't a whole lot of support for LNURL. The relays are pretty immature tech too, the whole thing is. But it's pretty amazing to watch - sophisticated and slick aren't everything. Simple can be far more amazing.

That's the route I went down in the end. WoS is very basic, but basic needs sometimes have basic solutions, why overcomplicate things.

Alby (connected to your own node) or Phoenix

I think I need to do more reading before I begin hosting nodes. I wouldn't want to mess it up and expose myself to potentially bad actors.

Choosing a Lightning Network (LN) wallet depends on your specific needs and preferences. While I can't provide real-time updates on the latest wallet developments, I can offer some general advice.
Phoenix Wallet is a popular LN wallet with positive feedback, but if you need LNdHub feature support, you might want to explore other options. Zeus is another LN wallet that some users have experience with, but it's always essential to exercise caution when following guides that seem suspicious or poorly written.
Since you're accessing Nostr via Amethyst, you could check if there are any recommended LN wallets mentioned in their community or forums. Users often share their experiences and feedback there, helping you find a trusted wallet that suits your needs.
Remember to do your research, read user reviews, and choose a wallet with good security practices, frequent updates, and active community support for the best experience.

Thank you for your response, I appreciate it. I'm sure I'm being overly cautious and perhaps English just isn't the author's first language. But usually if it's written poorly, with spelling and grammar issues. It's usually a red flag for me. I did find a very helpful well written guide from a well known user goes by Tony. So I followed their suggestions and ended up using wallet of satoshi. Very simple basic LN wallet, but sometimes like I said in a reply to another comment. Sometimes basic solutions are the best for basic needs.

Munity !

Phoenix works just fine if you don't mind switching applications for zapping. If you want in-app zaps then Alby is a good one.

I may try to go through the multiple linking up steps required to use Alby and phoenix. But I'll do that when I have a better understanding of how it works. Until then I'm just getting set up before I start exploring different wallet set ups etc. It's a very steep learning curve when your only exposure to BTC prior to SN Nostr and Fountain was... Buy on exchange move some to exodus, move most to cold storage. I'm really just scratching the surface of LN

Thanks, I found a guide by a verified guy (Tony) on Nostr which was excellent and comprehensive. So I ended up just using wallet of satoshi. Super simple and works fine in app with amethyst.

Hey, happy to hear my guide helped! I do encourage you to gradually move your LN funds to a self-custodial solutions as your stack grows. Phoenix suggested in the comments above is a good option. You could also use Valet, Breez and.or Blixt as an alternative. These wallets require a bit more understanding of how thing work, but it is a very important step to make as in an unlikely scenario of the fall of WoS or any other custodial wallet it would be a pity to have any significant amount of funds there.
The ultimate solution Is of course running your own Lightning node and managing your channels, but I've realized that this amount of work and knowledge is not for everyone and is more of the enthusiasts' and geeks' cup of tea.
That said, have a look at different self-custody solutions - @DarthCoin has a ton of useful guides on different LN wallets here: https://substack.com/@darthcoin
And of course feel free to reach out if you have any questions. I'm more active on Nostr: npub10awzknjg5r5lajnr53438ndcyjylgqsrnrtq5grs495v42qc6awsj45ys7

Thanks @Tony and I appreciate the effort you went through to compile the guide in a way that even users with an extremely basic understanding could at least get started whilst they figured stuff out.
