It feels so good. After so many cul de sac conversations, she finally gave in and bought herself some bitcoin.

My biggest finding:

many people have a problem understanding the idea of the bitcoin blockchain - some virutal world, which does who knows what, etc.. I knew this was a problem, but did not know how to solve it, until now. I showed her a visual view into a mempool and explained to her about the pending and confirmed transactions, blocks, miners etc. I think, since she saw a visual representation of the blockchain, that lit up a light bulb. She could suddenly associate something real with something that was just talked about and virtual. I think this was the final thing she needed to wrap her mind around it. Seeing the transactions, blocks, chain live was priceless.

Of course, she needs more education, but the biggest step is done. The rest is just a walk in the park.

Hope this helps someone to orange pill another lost soul.

Congrats :) I have a childhood friend that we started hanging out again the recent years, I occasionally bring the conversation to bitcoin and try to educate him about the importance of such a tool.

First few times I was very excited to explain what it is and how it works, but it didn't seem to get his attention, in the sense to start asking questions.

Latter I told him that I was studing how the financial system (money) works and there I understood that he had no idea about the reality... I mean he had a completely false perspective which he tried to support but soon realised there was flaws in his opinion, but I never pushed him to much :)

Fast forward.. a few month ago he was visiting me to have a cup of coffee and hang out, and in my big screen I had the mempool space website open because I was checking the fees before a transaction. He asked me a few questions about the stats that the website visualise and I was more than happy to explain. That day I knew all our previous conversations had set the fundamentals and he now knows the basics. Next step is to make him a wallet and send him some btc, which I postpone because he has a very old phone that I am afraid to trust it in the sense of security. Also I try to educate him how to be more privacy oriented.

Nice work! We got to set some missionaries too to spread the word of bitcoin. We got to put speakers on top of our cars and drive around the neighborhoods. Maybe even get ATM setup in the car for people that lines up to buy bitcoin.

She is on her own path. If I would buy her some, I think, she wouldn't be able to recover it within a month :). She is not the most organized person. But this way, she went through the journey herself, so she is better equipped to not forget about it.
