Here's the situation with Anita. She doesn't have a linkable newsletter, at least that I can find. So, I have to copy the text and then embed the links. It can be pretty time consuming. I do occasionally comment, but maybe I should make it a more uniform post. I do contribute to her Bitcoin For Fairness organization directly separately, and always include a link:

What are your thoughts on doing a Bitcoin for Fairness Satsraiser on Stacker News? 24 hours and then we forward all sats we collect to Anita's charity. Maybe we can get her to stop in for an AMA during the satsraiser.
@k00b if we coordinate something like above could you keep it as top post for 24 hours? Siggy and I will do the rest.
reply
If people are zapping it a lot, it should stay at the top without needing intervention.
reply
This is true. Could we get it boosted for a couple hours to build the momentum and then let nature take it's course. How long does a promoted post stay at the top?
reply
100k sats appears to stay for at least 12 hours without any additional zaps.
With additional zaps, at least 24 hours I'd guess.
reply
You can't forward promoted sats, right? That just goes to the rewards pool?
reply
You mean the 100k boost? Yeah, that goes to the reward pool as is.
I can personally zap back into the post any boost you all add to it.
reply
I would be good with this. We put up the 100k and then whether you zap it back or donate it straight to Anita's fund. Whatever works.

I'm in
I'm definitely up for that. You got me thinking yesterday about a lot of charity stuff we can do here.
reply
Yeah. The nostr people do a zapathon once a week. I think on Fridays. Where they zap each others memes and posts like crazy. That's fun but what if once a month on SN we can harness that same kind of fun energy (BZE- Big Zap Energy- you should use that in a meme on your socials @k00b) and channel it to something positive for the Bitcoin community. There are tons of great Bitcoin community projects that we can highlight and raise some sats for.
We do Anita's charity first and then crowdsource the next ones.
Thoughts?

Sounds good to me. I still don't know exactly what you this looks like on SN's end, but if we can use existing features available on the site to do what you want, we can begin to understand what needs to be added.
reply
Siggy can chime in but personally I think we just use existing features and learn from there. We do a promoted post. It stays up for 12 hours. Ask people to please zap and comment. If we were able to get Anita to stop in for an AMA would there be something different that needed to be done or we just create a post and she answers questions in it for an half and hour or hour?
reply
I agree. Keep in mind that Anita already did an AMA in November of 2022 I think. She might be up for doing another. I say we start with a promoted post.
reply
I didn't know that. Maybe she just wants to pop in then and do a short post during the satsraiser and say hi, thanks for the zaps kind of thing. I don't think it is necessary. I think broadly with you and I and certainly if k00b is supporting it people will know it is on the up and up.

I was thinking we can even almost take trust out of it completely using SN accounts. I have been trying to raise funds for Anita for a few weeks just forwarding sats from little posts, but I suspect she never uses the account nor withdraws from her wallet. So, I sent her an email asking what her preference is. She hasn't responded yet. I think it would be great to remove trust and send sats to vetted SN accounts directly. A perfect use of this site's zapability.
Yeah. I think a straight promoted post to start. We can maybe make this a regular thing with Paco, HRF, Anita, Bitcoin Ekasi, etc.
