Well was in the office and think I made quite a few people more interested in Bitcoin. Orange pilling takes time! Onward and upward today.

Things started slowly at the new job, but they quickly picked up, so it's been harder to keep very active on here! I hope everyone's week is going well.

who's this fairy sats mother I've got?

Anyone got any good articles or resources about trust graphs & social algorithms?
——
Interested in current web industry practice and also potential variations in the future.
In an era when content is free and exponentially scalable, think this is going to be super important. So want to be more educated on the matter. Particularly if we want to help Nostr succeed.
reply
Trust graphs aren't commonly used. More commonly blackbox global reputation systems are used.
I'm going to be giving a talk on Web of Trust soon and will be revisiting some of my research so I'll try to remember to come back and drop some links. Most of the existing research is provided in the context of public key infrastructure (pki) and p2p networks.
I gave a high level overview of WoT in this workshop: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9d0nzwMmrTk

Awesome thanks @k00b. Maybe we need a remind-me bot on here for use cases like this ☺️
Will share here too if I find anything of interest. Or perhaps create a dedicated post with findings.

Someone deposited sats into my account. I would like to know who so I can thank them 😊

Idea: A "Satsraiser" pool that stackers can donate to, alongside the reward pool. Every time the pool gradually grows to 100k sats (or even higher -- depending on how much ppl zap and how long it takes), we use the funds to boost/donate to whoever we're hosting a satsraiser for.
Not sure on the math behind funding this and if it's sustainable. Over time the rate of donations could dictate how often we do a fundraiser like this, and of course how often we can find people like Anita, but could be a good organic way to promote SN and the LN!
reply
given how much of a boost the rewards pool gets from ads relative to the amount of user donations, could even consider just redirecting all user donations to the satsraiser pool, and let rewards accumulate just from ads/fees/jobs + boosts from other accounts
reply
Another approach is to allow people to have default zap forwarding, e.g. 5% of every zap I get goes to the HRF or something.
reply
I like this idea
reply
yes, could have people set their preferred percentage in settings too
i think having the satsraiser pool next to the rewards pool could still be a good visual cue, too. Would encourage more donations

Hope everyone is having a great Wednesday. I am sure you are all aware but just wanted to shine some more light on the Satsraiser Siggy is running for Bitcoin for Fairness today. Dig deep my friends.
Cheers, GR

When you discover a winning formula, you use it until it stops working. Governments will continue to use COVID until it no longer distracts from economic problems.

From OpTech today
Murch walks through common wallet usage patterns while comparing weights of transaction inputs and outputs for P2WPKH and P2TR output types. He concludes by saying: “Overall, you’d save up to 15.4% in transaction fees by using P2TR instead of P2WPKH. If you make vastly more small payments than you receive payments, you may save up to 1.5% by sticking to P2WPKH.”
Interesting so you can save more with P2WPKH in some circumstances

I found a top post in show HN that lets users make apps, so I made one for SN: https://mu.app/stacker-news. I hope I don't break any rules here (if so let me know I will remove it)
