I checked out the BMW 420I that I will buy next week. Had an amazing test drive. Interior is fantastic and it is my first serious car. Happy to afford it thanks to btc.

Do you want to know about Machankura Wallet? We're actually using it in Africa, to send and receive bitcoins without internet.

Today I want to talk about opportunity zones. I would suggest that everyone cross reference crime rates and natural disasters with opportunity zones in there state. If you are Truth seekers who would like to be at least semi aware for safety reasons, please look into it. Let me know what you think please?

is SN ready to 10x?

Quality > Quantity

Do we want that?
reply
gonna happen whether you want it to or not.
There's "six million" redditors subscribed to /r/Bitcoin. One front page post redirecting a small fraction of them over here will probably be enough to double or triple user count overnight.
reply
I think we've already had front page posts afaik. I'd guess <100k of those 6m are "bitcoiners" and that's who we appeal to until we have user generated subs.

withdrawing sats stuck in pending for hours... help!! @k00b @ekzyis
reply
Everything looks good on our end.
I can try to help you figure out what's happening with more info.
reply
Hmm so zero sats on the destination wallet and also deducted here, still shows as pending. What info do you need and can we DM somewhere?
reply
Sats will be deducted here until the payment completes or fails. Payments like this can get stuck if hops on the route aren't sending along the payment for whatever reason.

reply
I looked into this further and based on where the money is being sent, I'd guess the problem is on the receiving end and you should reach out to the devs of the software you're using.
reply
Thanks. I don't quite get why it still shows as Pending
If I don't do anything what happens? Rugged?
reply
Somewhere along the route the payment is being held and not passed on. I'd guess it's a bug in one of those hops or the wallet itself (I'm trying to be discrete).
If the payment is held for too long the HTLCs will timeout and it'll effectively get refunded to your account.

Got together with some college friends over the weekend, a few of whom live in South FL. I mentioned I'd considered going to this year's Bitcoin conference and reaching out to them. One of them said "Yeah but didn't bitcoin die or something anyway?" Cue #wearesoearly comments ... Granted, they likely pay very little attention to any investing least of all anything as technical as bitcoin. It was a good reminder of what life is like outside the circles where I spend most of my time.
reply
reply
Yeah, on one hand it sounds very foreign to people, but on the other, Bitcoin is just money, so it's a day to day thing for everyone.
I guess it's similar to how most people don't really know how money works.
reply
I had similar once; β€˜hey, saw something on the news about that Bitcoin-coin thing you were banging on about. Is it back to rip more people off?’
reply
Yup. It can get really easy to forget that countless people out there don't even know what Bitcoin is or that it exists, much less that it is not only alive but thriving. Most people have much more pressing concerns and don't want to learn about it so much.

Invited to go on friends' boat for Labor Day. Got back near ten, which is pretty late for me, and it threw me out of whack, so I'm posting a little late today. I hope everyone had a pleasant weekend and got on the week running! Tomorrow I start planning for The Miami Bitcoin Conference 2024...^_^

Working outdoors, sun is shining and the water is cool. A good day.

Watched "Beau is Afraid"... that is one of the weirdest movies I've ever seen.
reply
Yeah that movie was a trip. Some scenes/sequences were so well done though, like him trying to run out across the street to the corner store and back. I get a little anxious going to big cities so I totally felt him lol
reply
Is that the Joaquin Phoenix one?
reply
Weird in a good way?
reply
... I don't even know how to describe the movie. I thought it was good, but definitely the weirdest I've seen in a while.

Feeling the burn from being part of a scam my brother fell for regarding a bullshit crypto exchange.
I'm not too upset at him, since he didn't know any better; moreso I'm pissed at myself for throwing lots of money down the fucking drain.
Hope other stackers have better days than I will.
reply
Younger or older brother?
reply
Younger, four years my junior. Live and learn for both of us, I guess.
reply
Damn. As a younger brother (I'm 33 he's 40ish) i cringed at how shamed I would feel for misleading my bro due to my own.. Whatever it was. Blindness, stupidity, naivety. I'd be worried that you'd never trust me again.
reply
The worst aspect of my experience was that by the time I knew for certain it was a scam (certain things he told me raised red flags, but didn't trigger a full refusal to continue), it had already costed me fifteen short of $300.
At that point and doing research following a bigger loss on top of that, I engaged in sunk cost action and simply told him "keep me updated on whether you can pull all that out to your Lightning wallet or not."
I was pissed; at both his falling for it, and myself being the biggest loser.
reply
I feel your pain going through something similar. Stay strong
reply
Only silver lining here is that my motivation to find a job shot up tenfold, and I've already signed up for Bitwage so that all my paychecks once getting work will be in Bitcoin.
At least my remaining funds are secure.
reply
Awesome good luck to you! Hopefully in this bear market you can accumulate as many sats as possible
reply
I once was told, "stay humble, stack sats". How can you do it without SN? Happy to be here.

Going forward, the fastest cowboy in the Snaily Discussion Thread will receive 1000 sats.
If nobody beats the snail, these sats go into the rewards pool instead.
__@_'-'
reply
We have created a monster; Snailenstein maybe..
reply
Please clarify: the fastest cowboy reply to the snail @orthwyrm or the the fastest cowboy replying to the daily discussion thread?
reply
The daily discussion thread, i.e. the first poster.
reply
Thank you for clarifying. This will make posting here 10x more fun. I'm looking forward to the competition.
reply
Yeah, that's the goal. I normally tip sats into the daily reward pool to keep my cowboy hat, but now I think I'll use them to encourage more activity in the daily as well.
If the snail gets tipped enough and I have a large surplus, then I'll do a mega dump at random.
