Listening to a podcast recently, the question came up essentially asking, "Are you known as the crazy bitcoin person in your family?" I am.
On the scale below, where are you and your family?
Bitcoin has no value 0------------------------------10 Bitcoin moon
Me: 10 Wife: 5 or 6 (started as a solid 1) Brother: 6 Sister-in-law: 1 (it's all criminals and scams) Mother: 3 Nieces/nephews: average around 4
Family? Those fiat people are no family of mine.

Me 10 Wife 6 Everybody else 0
But, I was considered crazy long before Satoshi Nakamoto showed up.
reply
No, not really. They've all (weirdly) seem to have great faith in me (and because of this, they've great faith in Bitcoin). This, I must admit, was really surprising to me.
None of them can fully comprehend Bitcoin - and it would be counterproductive, and deem me ๐˜ข๐˜ด crazy, if I were to try and explain it at any length.
I feel that I'm in a nice place here. Albeit a surprising one!

Me: 10 Wife: 2 (she humors me and allows me to put a lot of our net worth into it but glazes over when I explain it to her or discuss monetary/economic policy) Brother: 3-4 (I gifted him some and pay back for stuff via Lightning but he isn't orange pilled enough to feel the need to buy any more himself) Brother-in-law: 7-8 (DCAing and went in on a bitcoin miner with me; but also has some cryptocurrency too) Father-in-law: 8 (for 2 years he took bitcoin as payment when we were renting from him and has a Phoenix lightning wallet) Father: 3 (seemed interested in the idea of bitcoin after watching the Saylor/Tucker interview and talking about it but has benefited immensely from stock investing over the last 30 years so is unlikely to change his allocation much when what he was doing was working for him) Son: 10 (only 17 months old but he is already DCAing!! well, I guess you can blame this one on me. He'll hopefully be excited about it when he gets older) Friends: varies, one a definite 10; he's been getting paid in bitcoin since it was in the $300s via bitwage

I rearly try to push bitcoin on people but if I have a debt to pay or buying something from friends I always ask bitcoin or the nation currency, sometimes they are interested and accept a lightning network payment (me guiding)

Idk about crazy, but I regularly get โ€œhey ____, howโ€™s the Bitcoin going??โ€, soโ€ฆ yes
reply
Yes and I am not crazy. I haven't met bitcoin till recent years and I am not dev or advance user. But I guess that just being here at @stackernews made me more experienced as the rest of the world.
reply
I'd be surprised if anyone regularly using stacker.news isn't the solid 10 of their family. My wife's a 9 i guess in the sense that she's totally on board with all of it but doesn't know as much of the technical details.
Everyone else in my family is a no-coiner. I have a few friends who i'd put in the 5-8 range

I don't talk about Bitcoin unless someone asks me about it.
reply
At this point I don't even talk about bitcoin when people ask... I'm tired of explaining the answers all the time.
If people ask about it, I point them to a book or a video.
Except @ merchants. I'm pretty much always asking merchants if they accept bitcoin before I pay w/ fiat.

I'm the crazy everything person in my family. They laugh while I've been saying for years "Fiat is a Ponzi scheme, collapse is inevitable, too much debt is bad, the jabs are experimental and likely dangerous, lockdowns only serve to transfer wealth, masks don't work, the government don't care about you" etc.
I've come up realise that everyone made fun of Noah until it started raining. I've given up warning and and building my Ark in peace while the first few raid drops start falling on the heads of the unprepared. Long story short I'm a hard 10.
