So I was in Scotland the other week and I thought, some of these sights are some serious Jurassic Park vibes. Wild beautiful mountains.
And so I thought hey! Film scores make such a difference to a movies atmosphere.
Shill me your favourite track used in a movie. For me it's got to be
John Williams - Jurassic Park, main theme.
T- Rex will always be king.
Ps sorry I'm late, it's been a wild couple of days. I'm still in complete whirlwind chaos but I will do everything I can to ensure I respond to all of you who take the time to suggest something.
Score for the Lord of the Rings films was good.

There's a fun little fact about the isengard theme, I'm not sure how correct it is (not verified it myself), but I'll roll with it, it's the inverse of the hobbits theme. Which really shows the two sides of good and evil. Absolutely wicked composing, and very clever arrangement.
reply
That's awesome.
reply
It was. There's a moment in fellowship where they all come over the top of a ridge one by one and you get that big brass horns sound, really adds majesty to the whole thing of just walking between two rocks. Before you get the drone footage of them walking about various mountains.
reply
I don't remember specifics like that I just remember watching those films and thinking how much the music added to the mood and suspense.
reply
For sure, I was fortunate enough to go and watch star trek into darkness with the London symphony orchestra playing the music. And wow. What an experience, plus the live music gave you the goosebumps you don't always get through the cinema. Really great experience, if you ever get a chance to go and watch a film that has a live orchestra play the scores... go, drop whatever you're doing and go you won't be disappointed.
reply
I would love to see Jaws that way. I saw the London symphony do a John Williams special on Star Wars at the Albert Hall. Very, very good night out.
reply
Yes! Jaws would be amazing to see in that style. Off topic, i tried to get tickets to a night with Hanz Zimmer but couldn't get to them. That would have been something to write home about for sure.
reply
Oh no - what a shame. He came back into my consciousness with the Wonder Woman theme…. Before then I thought Batman Begins was his last great work.
reply
Yeah the wonder woman theme was really good. The soundtrack to interstellar that he did I really enjoyed.

Amazing piece of music. The real lux Aeterna as opposed to Metallica's lux Aeterna 😂😂 which in fairness wasn't bad in its own right.

Can I throw in a TV choice? Baby Blue by Badfinger in the Breaking Bad finale:
reply
I never got into breaking bad. But I think that song fits the scene really well. Good call siggy.
reply
I was wondering where today's post was. Glad I saw it before I logged off for a bit.
reply
Apologies, I'm completely outta sync this morning. Cheers for sticking about, I'm sure you were waiting eagerly for it 😜

Interstellar’s soundtrack goessss
reply
Haha just spoke about that with carlosfandango further up. It is a great soundtrack. Hanz Zimmer did a great job with it.

This is a crazy watch if you have 4 minutes

Theme from the best documentary, piano adaptation Wake up, Neo...
reply
That sounds awesome with piano!!! I can't picture the scene where it's being used but it's got real drama to it. Great suggestion, thank you!

and here's a meme by Guy Swann
reply
This might be my new way to orange pill someone haha. It's sooo accurate.

the scene with the lady in the red dress
reply
Ahhh yes! "Look again" 🕴️🔫
reply
Just when I finish listening youtube throws an even better version at me
reply
That was also really nice. It was different to the other one but in a way I can't really describe. It was almost lighter if that makes sense. Great interpretation and arrangement by maxxcine.
reply
for me, it has to be Once upon a time in the west
reply
Went and watched this again. And it kinda hit me in the same way Dueling Banjos hits me (another iconic piece of music). It's just perfect for the movie and what it's trying to portray.
reply
this came up as a suggestion after that. And... well... yeah... this is a tear jerker.
reply
I don't think I've ever seen that movie. But it's sure on my list now. That was beautiful, thank you for sharing that. That was a gorgeous piece of music.
reply
James Bond films have a lots of cool music.
reply
Unpopular opinion... not really much of a bond film fan. But the main theme is iconic.

Guardian of the galaxy's "Come and Get your Love" by Redbone is my best musical score

John Williams is something else. One day, he's going to mentioned in the same leagues as Bach and Mozart and Beethoven.

I listen to about 20% classic rock and 80% film score music. Here's a few random favorites:
Theme from Carpenter's The Thing
No Time For Caution, favorite scene, movie, composer, and director!
PotC got me into the genre in 2003, if you had to listen to just one Pirates track
Oppenheimer's music was intense in IMAX, particularly this track, with the scenes of the quantum realm, and the "horns of the apocalypse" at 0:43
reply
Well, I've got homework to do. PotC is an excellent piece of music. Always enjoy Zimmer.
I'm yet to see Oppenheimer and at this point I may as well wait until it's out online.

The soundtrack from the film Arrival is epic and really adds to the atmosphere
reply
Oddly a film I somehow missed. It's kinda one of those ones that's right up my street for things to watch and yet I just didn't find time to see it. I'll definitely have to get to it.

Tenet - Trucks in Place
reply
That always gives me terminator vibes. Gives a real sense of like doom.
reply
Yea I get that
reply
So many great films but a lot of scores seem to have one-hit wonder songs on the soundtrack. Last of the Mohicans, Batman Begins… and there are some great symphonic scores (Elfman, Horner, Zimmerman etc)
Best ‘complete’ soundtrack - and one I would to see live - Raiders Of The Lost Ark by John Williams
reply
Yeah, raiders was spectacular all the way through. I'd love to see that live like I did with star trek. That would just be incredible.
reply
How has no one mentioned Star Wars?!
I am also willing to accept submissions of. Danger zone. Youve lost that loving feeling. Take my breath away. Etc etc etc. (Not just top gun tracks but for some reason those just popped into my head)
