pull down to refresh

Good Afternoon stackers!! I'm sorry I'm late, my head's all out of whack and I've no idea what day it is!!
I hope you all enjoyed your weekend.
So I was stumbling about through some of my things and found my signed vinyl from the band Inglorious. It was their second album Inglorious 2 (https://youtube.com/playlist?list=PLLy1F0NPv5gqMwwD451noy7K1A9Nm4Zbv&si=gPxQXYhMLgF4oUjV) and I realised I hadn't heard anything from them since.
Spotify is usually pretty good at notifying me of new music, especially from bands I liked. But somehow I've missed four albums!! A live, a covers/tribute to women in rock, and two studio albums. I've got a lot of catching up to do.
So considering just how Unaware I was. I present to you for your pleasure. Irony that I was also unaware it's Monday 🤦‍♀️ Inglorious - Unaware (https://youtu.be/hSXHOgqA7kk?si=urqwdFtSz8ixzypr)
What bands have you rediscovered recently that you're glad you found again.
built to spill. their 1999 album keep it like a secret is one of my favorites. come to find out they released a new album last year, and it was great (when the wind forgets your name).

Built to Spill is amazing. Keep it a Secret is my favorite album, but I've enjoyed There's Nothing Wrong With Love more and more. The song Car is probably my overall favorite song by the band.
reply
nothing wrong with love is a great one too. i think either broken chairs or carry the zero would be my all time favorite song of theirs. have you heard when the wind forgets your name? it is definitely worth checking out if you dig their stuff

Ever listen to Doug Martsch solo album or his work with The Halo Benders? Virginia Reel Around The Fountain. Your Asterisk from The Rebels Not In is a good listen.
reply
i have not, but it is immediately going to the top of the list. appreciate the recommendation

Luckily for me it's a day with few meetings so it is in my queue. The other one my wife and I love from KILAS is Time Trap. We were out in BC a few years back camping and saw an inch worm move exactly to beat in the middle of the song, got a video of it and everything. Had to be there but something I'll never forget haha!

I'll give that album a go tomorrow mornings gym session. I like to be able to bang an album on as they tend to be the right amount of time to complete a decent workout. And it's almost the only time I get to be listening to music solidly without interruption. So an album recommendation, that's being saved for later.

Only discovered Diamante this week after Spotify recommended her, so not a rediscover. A couple catchy tracks but nothing groundbreaking, I feel like she was probably made by the industry or at least propped up by it.
reply
Something I've still gotta get round to. I've heard of diamante but not actually listened to her stuff yet.

Heard this and thought it was kinda catchy and then it made me feel old, not exactly a lyrical masterpiece but started me down the rabbithole https://youtu.be/vw_Vb6jA9zs?si=JCneha3JnhaaGJLQ

Ooooooffff 1987. Yikes...

I recently have been rediscovering Hawksley Workman. Canadian singer, songwriter multi-instrumentalist.
For your listening pleasure. Clever not Beautiful.
reply
I do love something clever. Sounds kinda Beatles-esq kinda vibe. I got a lot of time for multi-instrumentalists I love hearing someone demonstrate such talent. It's kind of why I love symphonic metal, it's got the complexities of Bach and classical with the impressive ability that metal demonstrates.

Well, I can't say I don't disagree with the message and the outlook of what will happen the day the dollar does die. And yes to reggae, it's not a genre I hear often and am surprised when someone recommends reggae. Nice one 👍
reply
I am all over the spectrum when it comes to musical genres. I do feel that reggae has the most positive vibes so when I'm depressed or stress it's my go to. If you want some more modern reggae/rock, check out Stick Figure or Iya Terra!
reply
Have you ever heard of skindred? They're a bit of a fusion between reggae and metal. And it's great.

many years after my bass music festival going chapter, I rediscovered Fat Freddy's Drop https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qYOYLhUSvNs

Ok, sure, I can vibe with that, it's almost like new age blues. Nice recommendation there @Lux
