I was never vegan or vegetarian. Always figured the anti-egg thing was crap, and have been eating plenty of eggs. And some meat and dairy. I avoided processed foods. And I really thought that I was mostly free of mainstream nutritional dogma, because I'm naturally a critical thinker.
But being fascinated by bitcoin, knowing that lots of bitcoiners are meat-centric, and listening to some interviews with carnivores or mostly carnivores - all of this has opened a door for me.
Now, in reading and listening to some of these meat-centric sources, I'm also realizing how much mainstream nutritional dogma I had previously absorbed, just by living in today's world.
And those damn "you should be eating these superfoods" articles - the ones that have chia, spinach, beets, etc. on the preferred list. They always caught my eye, I constantly checked them to see what new superfoods I could incorporate into my daily routine. And they rarely had animal products on them.
Until you really take a good look at the other side of the argument - the pro-carnivore side - you just by default absorb the mainstream argument. Which is "focus on vegetables and whole grains; meat might be okay but it should be very limited, vegan is better, excess meat causes cancer, etc". Those pro-vegan/anti-animal products dogma are like the air we breath. We absorb them, without noticing.
But things are changing now for me. I'm starting to think that instead of plants and grains being the focus of my diet, with meat and animal products being more like condiments, I should be doing the opposite. Meat/animal products should be the focus, and plants/grains should be the condiment. This is really mind-blowing, and I will need to completely flip my setup, search up new recipes, etc.
Anyway, here's some of the books I've been reading: The Big Fat Surprise (by Nina Teicholtz, an interview with her on The Bitcoin Standard podcast really started me out in this area) Toxic Superfoods The Carnivore Code The Great Plant Based Con
@benwehrman, thanks again for the Plant Free MD podcast recommendation. Awesome interviews. Right now I'm listening to the one with Thomas Seyfried, the doctor working with alternative treatments for cancer.
Anyone have more resources, practical tips, etc, I'd love to hear them.

I have to say, I absolutely could not put The Big Fat Surprise by Nina Teicholtz down, once I started. Mind blowing how completely consumed society is with the message that saturated fat/meat/animal products are bad, based on really weak evidence, and lots of evidence to the contrary.
So I'd say, definitely read that one. Or also - she's done a ton of interviews, they're great as well, if your reading list is long.
Also @benwehrman turned me on to the Plant Free MD podcast. There's some great interviews there.
