Help! I had an argument with a goldbug today and he stunned me.

So, just talking to one of my neighbors who's a huge goldbug no-coiner, and I was pointing out all the things that are better about Bitcoin, including portability, fungibility, verifiability non-counterfeit, smart people working on it, it's the auto while gold is the horse-and-buggy, all that good stuff, ok?

And he said "How far is Bitcoin off it's All Time High(ATH)?"

I said "Bitcoin has gone up over 130% this year."

He said "How far is it from it's ATH though?"

I said "It's better than halfway there right now."

He said "Oh! Well. Gold just made a BRAND NEW ATH today!!!"

I was stunned. I pulled out my phone and checked, and just about had to do a double-take! He was right! I didn't know what to say about it.

Does anyone have a good line here. So I can be armed next time this comes up. Thank you.

What difference does it make if something is at ATH if it moves at a fraction of the velocity?

There is absolutely zero point to argue with a goldbug about why Bitcoin is better money, they still live in the 19th century. But since you perssist use this "Gold is analogue hard money with an unknown suply and hard to audit, Bitcoin is digital hard money with a fixed known supply and a stock-to-flow moving exponencially faster than gold meaning it gets much scarcer than gold overtime.

Break down his point in a real world example...maybe with an example of apples to apples of a person holding bitcoin or gold at x date for x period of time. Then youll see why what he stumped you with doesnt actually mean anything.

Make sure you go to his house after the ETF approvals send bitcoin to new ATH. Then ask him if he still thinks gold is better because it hit an all time high on 12/1

The same could be said about Monero maxi retards, those ones are the worst of all, very vocal they wont ever shut up, i made a rule to my self to instant mute/block them.

Some of them are very active on Nostr and you check their profile and every post they write/share is negative towards BTC (they actually hate bitcoin lol) and shilling pro-Monero garbage non-stop. Ridiculous people.
