Just under a year ago, myself and my co-founder embarked on a mission with the compass spinning in all directions, but settled on building a Bitcoin marketplace here in Toronto. (and Canada wide)
The most crippling feeling that comes over you when starting a new venture is the fear of radio silence during or after your debut. I'm so grateful that hasn't happened to us. Despite all the pitfalls and people who laughed at us for thinking this would ever work in a privileged place like Toronto, I guess if there's some BTC pow here, it can be anywhere and everywhere, and it should be.
A labor of love, and I know I'm late on this, but here it is. Gotoshi Q1 report (August 15–November 15, 2023)
If you're interested in knowing about what's happening under the hood over at gotoshi.ca, have a look.
A couple of footnotes that aren't really mentioned in this report. (due to not having tools to accurately display the metrics in a readily available, easily visualized fashion.)
90% of new e-commerce businesses' with marketing campaigns take 2 to 3 months to get their first organic sale. We were fortunate enough to have our first sale on day one of our launch and have since had orders trinkling in on a consistent and recurring basis.
We have been in beta during the entire duration of this quarter. Sadly, it hindered our sales. I am happy to divulge that we are out of beta now.
All of our marketing has been word of mouth + a few posts here and there on our socials. No real money has been spent on marketing whatsoever. In fact, Bitcoin Cypherpunks exist predominantly offline.
We actually recently integrated a rewards-back program (3% sats back based on the entirety of your order) and have since rewarded our buyers with 85,377 in Satoshi's
Coming from humble beginnings, I'm somewhat uncomfortable winning, and numbers are highly subjective, but I must say I'm personally proud of the tidy sum of total individual items sold in ninety days (157) and all the Bitcoin Cypherpunks who seized the opportunity to make it happen. This helps to showcase supply and demand and a groundswell of a growing fanbase that despises fiat as much as we do. I have seen a rather large uptick/influx of people looking to get involved with what we started here. (im sure number go up has nothing to do with it LOL)
To a way lesser extent, some of our statistics are measured in CAD, but if you're on the same page as me, it's all about how many SATS you're pulling in, baby! and in Q1, we raked in 6,282,317 Satoshi's! (All transactions and revenue are verifiable via OpenNode.)
A little off topic... If they (and at this point, I think we all know who they are) can censor your transactions... They can pull your rights up from under you at any moment they feel like. This world is full of charlatans looking to convince you to relinquish a little more of your freedom. And when you do, they ask that you relinquish just a little bit more and more and more and more. So they can reach out and break you whenever they feel like. Protect yourself and your family and get deeper involved with Bitcoin; it really is meant to safeguard your God-given rights and keep you from slavery/bondage. Pray that you never see the face of those who seek to conquer and control you at every turn, for they relish in your obedience and have a major superiority complex and they take pleasure in your downfall. The writing is on the wall with where things are headed around the world. Bitcoin is the apex safe haven. Help build it out and use it. Don't just talk..Walk
Cheers to ensuring the bitcoin scene never dies and bitcoin maximalists only multiply in Toronto, and that we always live up to the first three letters in our city... Tor
A special thank you to the real ones and to those who have been down to roll with me.

BTW, congrats on the 49ers.

They played a great game. I had a feeling the 49ers were going to have a big day. Started slow but once they got rolling it was over. I have been saying all year that the Eagles don't look right. Something is off. The D isn't the same but they kept winning so I thought maybe I was wrong. I think their D got exposed today.
Packers playing a heck of against the Chiefs.
