Would like the ability to mute comments. Some people take the opportunity to have their daily conversations under other people's comments and it blows up notifications. I've had SN notifications turned off because of no ability to control this.
I have the same request, despite possibly being one of the culprits mentioned.

Ahhh cool! Haven't checked those in awhile or didn't notice it last time I did. I think that's perfect. I turned it on and then couldn't see your notification so that's great. Thank you!

I didn't know that was there, but I don't think I want to make such a universal action. It's only on rare occasions that I want out of a conversation.

No worries, I think the current notification that was indicated above actually solves it for me then. Catches conversations I'm no longer apart of. It might catch others that might pertain to me too but I'll take it.

If you don't mind asking, do you have push notifications enabled?
I had to disable those notifications a few days after I started really using SN. I know I'll miss some important notifications, but I couldn't keep up. This way, I make sure I'm notified when someone replies to me directly, and then I can read all the replies when I have time.

We have an issue open for unsubscribing from branches of child comments arbitrarily. Until then the notifications settings sledgehammer is what we've got.
