There are a lot of repulsive personalities in bitcoin. Some of them are occasionally able to point out naked emperors.

Who are you repulsive follows? The people who almost always irritate you, but who can be relied upon to cut through the bullshit every once in a very necessary while.

I'll start (to give you an idea of just how unpleasant I mean): jw weatherman.

Your post reminded me of this.

Best thing these days is just to ignore it and build what you want to see in the world.

Common misconception is that the problem is the influencers. The issue is that people are so easily influenced and don't do their own research.

reply

Exactly, while influencers can be scummy, they are just filling a market demand, if people don't look to others with a following for advice, way to think, summarise the industry or happenings for them, this wouldn't be such a big deal

I couldn't be arsed what an influencer does really

Definitely Darthcoin, at the same time the best source of knowledge for BTC and LN, generous with his time to write so many guides but also growing impatient over the years with people who don't bother the read them. In another style, love the way Matt Odell tells the "suits" to go fuck themselves, always well timed bring it on!

There are no necessary voices in bitcoin ;)

Also, I'll go for the obvious one of Luke Dash Jr.

reply

Definitely. His takes are sometimes controversial but then again, without him the protocol would likely be full of bloat and that's not even including Ordinals.

reply

I can think of plenty that others find repulsive but I do not. Any that I find repulsive I would not classify as necessary.

Real talk time. The older I get the more value I find in people I disagree with on some things.

Saylor and McCormack add value but there is plenty I disagree with them on. Its my opinion that most of the infighting in bitcoin is immaturity and ego. Has nothing to do with Bitcoin or its "culture". I see it any many other subcultures. Disagreement and debate help us sharpen our ideas.
