Doesn't @grayruby already do this?
reply
SN Foundry is open source. We are currently haggling over the correct post number.

Great answer lol

Taking slow for now while I figure out how to present my ideas about the topic to stackers, and future plans.
Regardless, I need to start writing more, inspired by @davidw's comment from earlier this week:
Too many are on someone elseโ€™s autopilot, repeating the stuff they heard the week prior whilst believing those thoughts were their own creation.
reply
I wouldn't mind a push notification for everytime there's a new post in my territory though ๐Ÿค” that could be really helpful (one you can toggle, I'm sure busier territories would become a pain).

+1 on this feature!

Music's slow, but keep plugging away. I've renewed for another month anyway.

Dropping another 100k tomorrow. Anyone found any promising revenue generating models for their territories?

I'll try to continue posting good quality content related to the ~Agora territory. I was lucky enough to ow share efforts with @AG and @AG0RA... can't believe it's less than two weeks ago when it was born!
I'd not expect it to be sustainable any time soon (I mean rewards reaping for the cost) especially when keeping the fees so low to invite people to un-dusting items and make space in filled garages.
reply
I believe that you and @grayruby are in your own league. You both obviously hit the ground running with a real business plan. Congrats!
reply
No true plan. Just feeling things out and gathering data for now.

@bitcoinplebdev with the ~dev territory started really well. he should teach us about engagement!
reply
Thanks! I do think it's a pretty easy territory to get up and running since there's already quite a few devs and dev-curious folks on SN
Even still I wonder what kind of formats will be engaging and useful for people in the medium to longterm for ~devs it could easily just become a shameless hackernews crossposting dumpster and I dont want that, I want to curate a feed of stories/advice/tools/memes that I would genuinely love to see and engage with everyday as a dev
reply
Bitcoin and dev related territories have the advantage in already having an interested audience. Wholly unrelated territories will take longer, but I think they will further the goal of bitcoin adoption.
reply
this is how i am feeling with my ~earth baby right now. Don't foresee much profitability immediately, just want it to be here to grow and see what comes of it.
reply
I'm just sticking to the idea. Provide spaces, encourage daily interactions and discussion, have a few themed threads going throughout the week alongside the dailys. I got a couple ideas but so far, it's been pretty slow.
I made (see also butchered) a SN ~Music logo so that's in the territory description. (Doubt anyone reads those). Could do with the ability to pin posts ideally.

I agree, the territory description should be visible. We just submitted a request for it today
The logo look's great ๐Ÿค˜

The new logo does yeah ๐Ÿ˜œ thanks to GR. My 2minute MSPaint job was an eyesore haha ๐Ÿ˜…

Bet you regretted that decision ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚ cheers for the new one. I loved the tagline.

I certainly have not, but I didn't expect to yet. I think this is a long term project. I hope we will grow along with SN as it gradually becomes a major social media site. I have been very hands off with my territories, trying to allow them to evolve naturally. That might be a mistake if they just sit there. If we get a nice juicy sell the ETF news dip maybe I'll buy them outright.
reply
Iโ€™ve also tried to let the territory evolve naturally and not make them arbitrarily expensive. But definitely think I could engage more and review the recent feed more frequently each day.
Some great resources that were posted got missed by me, with just 10sats or less.
I also want to find a way to encourage people to include more detail when posting links. Without providing a rigid structure. Really helps provide context for people as to whether to click, and the key takeaways, but might be more a personal preference. Seems to have worked for my sat-stack to date.

Also fwiw, I spend at least an hour per day in recent. Not that we should expect other founders to do this, but I do it first thing in the morning, usually immediately upon waking, then check back consistently throughout the day (probably at least 5 times) with one more serious pass before I go to bed lol.
I do this mostly to satisfy expectations, and set a floor, on how posts are received. At some point enough good stuff is in recent that other people will be drawn to wading through it themselves (and get rewarded for zapping the good stuff). Stackers usually catch all the good stuff before I do these days, but I still scrape it regularly out of habit.
reply
Absolutely agree. I try my best to always sort by recent. Imagine you're the boss of a business... Go interact with your customers at every opportunity. Be a face not a faceless entity. Build relationships and people will come to you.
reply
The naked link thing is a pet peeve of mine. We have the means to reward/punish, like zaps, downzaps, or removing posts, but I don't want to do that yet, if ever.
reply
I'm with you on the naked link stuff. There's a couple posts here and there which are just a link and done. But I don't want to discourage users from using the space. But I'd rather they said something about that link, why they liked it for example. Share thoughts start discussion. Perhaps I could switch off the link only posts and kinda force people's hands to post as a discussion.
reply
I am going to attempt a crowd sourced beginner bitcoin resources mega post along the lines of yours. I think that you in particular, because it was such a good post, but all of us to a lesser extent too, will benefit from the ability to pin posts. That will change the feel of territories. Also, a more robust, more visible territories landing page that can be edited easily and zapped would be game changing.
reply
I also want to say that you have done a phenomenal job with your ~privacy territory. It is already a valuable resource for me. You might not be seeing revenue yet, but you are sowing the seeds.

fwiw it took SN 8 months to get to 200k sats/mo. Historically, absent ~jobs, the lionsshare of revenue has come from boost/ads/donations. Hopefully we can introduce an ad post type among other revenue generating things soon.
I'd guess we'll see our first profitable territory sooner than 8 months.
reply
That would be awesome. I must admit the thought did cross my mind to create an ~ads territory but I knew that would be a distraction and derail future plans ๐Ÿ˜…

I thought @ad was taking care of it already... Uh wait! An AD post type will be great for SN, but probably make the ~Agora obsolete already. However, I do recognize it's needed
reply
Not every product or service listing is an advert. Adverts are expensive and perform better when you find a niche audience interested in your product. Adverts can relate to any audience or subject.
As an advertiser do you:
  1. only want to advertise to a bunch of general people amongst all the Facebook marketplace listings
  2. or do you also want to advertise to very specific audiences who have searched for a particular niche, product or service?
Most likely youโ€™d favour the latter (2) but the former (1) will still generate ad listings and conversions also.
~Agora will be just fine. People would still want to pay a bunch of sats to rank at the top of all the organic listings people are checking-out.

I will be putting together a post shortly for SN Foundry that will recap the financials for the first 30 days of my territory. I have been tracking it daily since territories launched. Rev will be way offside but Rev plus Earn will likely have covered my 100k for the month. I will be happy if that's the case. If I can cover the cost of the territory from rev plus earn that means that even though the territory can't sustain itself, I can sustain it through SN resources only.

Is there a way to change my territory to pay forever? rather than monthly?
I got approval from my charity to purchase it outright, but I can't see the option to do so anymore.
anyone know what I'm doing wrong?
reply
I'm curious, can you ban anyone from a territory? What kind of admin tools do you get at your disposal?
reply

Currently, you can enable moderation to outlaw content in your territory with one click:
But as is the case with any outlawed content, this has no effect on stackers that have wild west mode enabled.

I'd like to start a Friday Movie Night where we decide which movie we will watch on Monday. I'm thinking comment which movie you want to watch, and whichever movie gets the most votes is the movie for Friday.
Monday Post: SN FMN: Pick our movie! Friday Post: SN FMN: [movie title]
Also, I'm debating the Monday post is just a poll of 5 movies to pick, and then add a movie you want to be in the poll next week in the comments of the Monday Post. And keep the Friday post purely about the movie.
reply
Love it. Glad you are running with the SN Foundry idea, but how is this post #01 when I have already done 2 posts under the SN Foundry tagline? Haha.
I will be doing an SN Foundry post later today, which will be a recap of the financials from my territory for the first 30 days since the territories. I will link your post in that. Hopefully this can be a weekly discussion for spot for folks.
