Zap to Zero Day 9

I am changing things up again because we should be like software, not hardware. I'll try to post these "early" in the morning now (credits to @Natalia since she mentioned doing this here). So this post today will be about my day on SN yesterday where I got rewarded for my day on SN the day before yesterday. Easy to follow, right?

As you can see, I also got the "debt collection" letter with an anxiety-inducing timer in my mail now, as @davidw nicely put it.
Also, my stacked and spent amount represent this meme:
at least as far as the number rounding in the calendar lets us see
Zaps of Yesterday
I needed to consult my wallet history for this and this is the first thing I saw:
It's like a wall of all my failed attempts to zap people because my balance was too low. The one sat invoice is especially sad, lol. But now to my daily zaps of yesterday:
Hey, nice to meet you (over a post lol) :)
Also nice to meet you! Your replies remind me of myself a few months ago, haha
Also heavily versed in cryptography, probably not to the extend you are however. Yes I would want E2EE DMs. I'd be interested in getting those ideas and plans around it because this sounds up my street.
Bitcoin Builders: Bots Edition (Beta) Bitcoin bots lurk in the mempool, looking for transactions to snap up. In this four-week class, we’ll build three different bitcoin mempool sniping bots.
It sounds related to the current high onchain fee environment but I am not sure. But this brings me to the next superzap anyway ...
This PR updates mempool policy to restrict the amount of data that can be embedded in witnesses. Accordingly, users that configure -datacarriersize would see the limit used to restrict inscriptions as well as opreturns.
It does not implement a blanket way of identifying "arbitrary" embedded data in witnesses (as there is no way to do so). It does check OP_FALSE OP_IF ... OP_ENDIF which targets inscriptions.
I really liked reading through the summary of comments (ACKs vs NACKs). I recommend that you do this too if you didn't already. If you have time, you can also check the discussion in the PR itself.
Btw, in case you didn't know, Gloria became the maintainer of the mempool in July 2022. While searching for the PR where her keys were added to the trusted keys, I also found something completely different (as always): a blog post from her from 2019 with the title Digital Panopticon: Why Privacy is a Human Right. Sounds interesting. Bookmarked.
  • @birdeye21 did some PoW again as the founder of ~earth and dropped another banger in there: When nature looks like a painting. I had something to say but I think I didn't find the right words to say it with a high enough value/words ratio (I also didn't have pictures) and then I must have forgotten about it. But I remember how touched I felt while reading these words:
In moments like these, I am reminded how much humans belong here. The earth is our home, wherever we are. And over time, it drives a deeper awareness in me of just how foreign the lifestyles we've built up in place of nature are.
Always makes me happy to see that other people have similar feelings like me about things. Makes me feel connected and that I belong here too, you know?

Just realized that post from @birdeye21 was from 4 Jan so it wasn't yesterday. I am getting really confused about which day I am writing, lol. So I'll stop here now before I get so confused that I hurt myself.
Oh no, while proofreading, I realized I posted my rewards from today and not from yesterday. See how confused I am about which day I am supposed to write? So here are the correct rewards notifications - from 2023-01-05:
Have a nice remaining day, stackers - in whatever time zone you are! :)
You got lucky that rewards were for posts/comments yesterday, because your zapping was pretty underwhelming.

I like what this has developed into, but you make so many sats on these posts that you might have to think up an end to the experiment other than running out of sats.

Yeah, it's been pretty consistent rewards for 9 days now.
However today, I didn't post and zap much (so far). But I still have to zap all my sats away before I go to bed [0].
So if tomorrow the algorithm decides that I don't get rewarded for zapping, I might actually be done or only have very few sats to spare. These will be very precious sats then.
But I also like this "daily newsletter" type of post. I might keep it up in a different form after this experiment. I wanted to write more anyway :)
[0] I also realized that "zapping all my sats away" is hard to define. Currently, I just zap to zero and then I put the phone away and go to bed but people might keep zapping me before the next rewards come in. So I could game it by just going to bed very early (which I didn't so far).

Oh, I forgot about this thread where @davidw, @siggy47, @grayruby, @mo, @bitcoinplebdev, @k00b and @Public_N_M_E discussed how they watch over their territories.
The post from @birdeye21 was meant to be a nice way to transition to this thread because it's about "territory business models" as asked by @davidw:
Dropping another 100k tomorrow. Anyone found any promising revenue generating models for their territories?
However, I forgot about it when I saw I even confused the day of my reward notifications. So I am posting this here as a comment. Check this thread out. I especially liked this comment from @Public_N_M_E:
Absolutely agree. I try my best to always sort by recent. Imagine you're the boss of a business... Go interact with your customers at every opportunity. Be a face not a faceless entity. Build relationships and people will come to you.
As @Car mentioned during a SNL episode (that I will definitely not look up now): These territories are meant to be SN's inside SN :)
update: ok, it must have been somewhere in here

Adopted superman hands on hips stance, cape flowing in the wind, smug mode engaged. "I got mentioned" 😂😂 but in all seriousness it's a mini bugbear of mine when conversing with someone and you respond to them, they'll reply but not zap your responses. If someone's taken the time to address my comments/posts etc then they're getting zapped. Circular economy. You want to encourage engagement? Zap everyone who interacts with you.

Oh I know that feeling. Sometimes, I do 1 sat zaps just for teasing haha

Out of interest has the rewards system changed again? I don't think I've been seeing earnings for zapping posts for the past couple days, only for comment ranking instead.

No, I think it's been a while since we changed it.
Every day, we flip a coin and then we reward posting or zapping.
Today posting was rewarded.
So you always get rewarded for either zapping posts and comments or posting posts and comments.

Ahhhhh ok! Makes sense.

I want to ask why you aren’t focused on recouping your $300k investment in the three territories first before zapping away all your sats.
Great job posting earlier than previously haha 😝

Because I am here to have fun :)

I didn't though. I would have usually posted this before I went to bed but I now posted this on the next day. That's also why I got so confused about which day I am writing. But I wrote about my zaps and rewards from yesterday. And the rewards are for the day before yesterday.
Tomorrow, I'll write about my zaps from today and how much I got rewarded today.

Sounds like a plan!

I also really like all the interlinkage to other SN content. Capital formation, baby!
And I mentioned this:
Finally someone notices! Someone needs to keep the web together :)
I realized that deep in my mind, I was probably thinking about this scene from Spider-Man 2 when I wrote this:
And now I even realized that I (or someone) could probably make an animated meme about this and how some stackers feel that SN fractured since we launched territories.
Wanted to learn some video editing skills anyway :)

Haha.
If you want some ideas for tools you could build that could make this less ... heroic, I have some ideas.

Yes, give me all your ideas! :) Being a hero isn't fun. You either die as a hero or you live long enough to see yourself become the villain.
I only know about the idea to have an embedded search in the post form (or similar) but for this, our search itself needs to work first, lol
