Besides our monetary system..
I can't help but see a parallel between the adoption of Bitcoin and the adoption of self-driving EVs.
There is endless debate and conversation surrounding Bitcoin and whether or not it's "fulfilling" its role as a decentralized monetary system. We still have custodial roadblocks to tackle. We still have problems scaling self-custodial bitcoin. We still have social/political authorities actively trying to work against Bitcoin.
In the "new world", hyperbitcoinized and all, there isn't social/political pushback against Bitcoin. In the same way there isn't for the laws of gravity, or mathematics, fire, electricity, etc.
That force dampens once the majority of the network agrees to the rules of the game. We can achieve the ideals of a peer-to-peer, electronic cash system for the world once the majority of the world starts to agree by its rules. That's when the scale tips in our favor, and the solutions to Bitcoin's problems being worked out today can all fall into place.
I say all this to give context. In the same way as Bitcoin, it seems to me that the full integration of self-driving EVs requires a majority of the vehicle network to agree to the same rules.
They are undergoing a similar type of social/political scrutiny as Bitcoin, and from a more functional side of things, EVs don't really drive or "work" as intended when mixed in with a vast majority of human-driven vehicles, the same way that Bitcoin has problems in a fiat-diluted system.
I'm guessing that our road networks will likely become unimaginably more safe than we can comprehend today. And it will work because the majority of the network is in consensus. All the cars will be playing by the same rules.
And as for the communism that comes with global-scale AI/self-driving, idk man this just an idea here. I do foresee this future coming, and all the worry that naturally arises regarding this topic only indicates more truth of it to me. Bitcoin teaches us that the key is keeping the rulebook out of the hands of any one rule keeper. Idk how to work that part out in my head for AI/EVs specifically, but we start with the money right??
All this being said, what does Bitcoin teach us about how today's networks function, and what problems there may be? What other networks or systems are lacking consensus right now that are need replacement?
radio frequency licensing. private property. governance. (not just of countries, also of corporations and other organizations)

what a vastly, vastly different world we are hyperspeed waltzing into

I like how you highlighted the parallels between self-driving cars and Bitcoin with regard to consensus, but now I'm worried about the repercussions of a system where you can't even travel without involving an electronic system...

Many view it from the lens of control and power grabbing that we have generationally ingrained into us, and thus rightfully are worried of the repurcussions.
In all reality, however, (and the optimist in me speaking), the overall world will be "functioning" in such a drastically different way than today that driving probably won't even be a thought in everyday life. The electronic systems will likely be far better we can comprehend today. For better or worse depending on who you are, but the newer generations will care less and less about cars in general while the older generations cling to tradition. Always how it goes aint it
