I was pleased to find that the SN guys have changed the generic 'type a comment here' (in the reply box) to the more creative "early comments get more zaps" or "fractions of a penny for your thoughts". It's great to see the devs tweak things to make the UX even better.

I wonder whether the generic lost or found a cowboy hat message has been updated, chopped and changed by the devs too. However, the only way to find out is to lose your hat...

If it hasn't changed, perhaps Stackers to come up with new scenarios why Cowboy hats could be lost and found.

Maybe keep it family-friendly though - if a kid thinks that someone virtually socked them in the jaw or the generic 'someone shot your hat off' they might chose never to return...

BTW If stackers want to know whether it is possible to shoot a stetson off with a bullet - wait no more! those guys from mythbusters already busted that myth!

A cowboy can shoot a hat off a person’s head, sending the hat flying through the air without harming the wearer.
BUSTED

Using an arsenal of period weapons, cowboy hats, and a dummy head, Adam and Jamie were unable get the hat to fall off the dummy’s head, much less fly. The bullets simply could not transfer enough force into the hat to make it fly off. While pistols and rifles were ineffective, the MythBusters found that shotgun shells could make a hat fly into the air since the birdshot provided greater surface area to transfer the force of the shell. However, the birdshot also peppered the dummy in a fashion that would be fatal to a human being.

A good enough point of view, SN is ever evolving so anything is possible

I don't want a hat. I'm tired of hats. I'm not inspired by hats. What are we doing?

reply

Having fun.

Thats what the zaps are for.

You can also try to find it in the code, the source of truth :)

Ah, that's great @ekzyis!

Thanks to your link I saw your twelve scenarios. I should have had more faith in your usual attention to detail.

Or to check the source code ;)

Ah, that's great!
So there's a dozen scenarios already (six blurbs for lost, six for found). Plus they're all good scenarios too!

Amazing

Interesting and exciting 5hings to come.

We are early!

Some country scenarios could be nice…like your cowboy hat decides to act on impulse and jet off to the Land of the Rising Sun or Land of a Thousand Lakes or Land of a Million Smiles etc haha

I could see finding a hat for commenting on post would make some users that are big tippers happy.

I know being still “green” I am trying to understand the benefits to having a hat.

They haven't updated the cowboy hat stuff. This post seems...pointless.

Maybe read again - the whole purpose of the post is to drum scenario ideas!
