Hey stackers, today I would like to share with you some thoughts about how bitcoin is already in everyone's mind and they just need a push to start using it.
As many of you know, one of my hobbies is to approach businesses to try to pay with bitcoin, in many cases the refusal is present, take a look at #388134 to know what I'm talking about, but in many others, all they need is to understand how easy and intuitive it is to transact bitcoin both onchain and within L2 to start adopting it in their respective businesses.
A couple of nights ago I stayed at a hotel, of which I am a regular customer, so I have a friendly relationship with both the employees and the owner. Here are some of the tricks I keep in mind whenever there is any option to give the orange pill to any establishment:
  1. Never talk about bitcoin without being asked about something related, even if it's only slightly, so yep, whenever you talk about bitcoin, make sure it's to answer properly a specific question.
  2. Maintain a cordial relationship with the businesses, at some point the option to take the orange pill may come up.
  3. Don't try to convince him! Just once the subject comes to the fore, offer to be the first customer to pay with bitcoin, highlighting the advantages for him, but also the advantages for you as a customer. Reasonings such as "I would particularly come more often if I could pay with bitcoin, I believe that many other people, domestic but especially foreigners, are in the same situation as me".
  4. Our main mission is to facilitate the start-up and give support in case they have any doubts about it, meet one day to show them how easy it really is to use bitcoin, send some sats as a welcome to the ecosystem.
  5. Don't use technical language, they don't really need to know how bitcoin works, they need to learn how to use it and know the possible advantages and disadvantages (?) it can bring to their business.
  6. If he mentions cryptocurrencies to you, talk to them openly about shitcoins and scams, they should know the differences between a crypto bro and a bitcoiner. Make it clear to them that shitcoiners can always swap their tokens for bitcoin in order to get paid.
  7. Provide the chsnce to accept both onchain and lightning payments, talk to them in a simple way about differences and management of the different wallets from the user's perspective.
Conclusion: Not all businesses are ready to make the leap, focus on businesses where you have more trust with the owner and they show an interest in incorporating new payment channels. In short, be water my friend, let the conversation flow keeping in mind that despite being the best option for both, they have to realize for themselves that our proposal is a winning one, let's stop aiming at the nocoiners' heads and start shaking it with no other pretension than to inform and let each one decide whether to take the leap or sink in the quicksand of the Fiat trashuniverse. https://media.tenor.com/r40EvzgO5a4AAAAM/bitcoin-king.gif Thanks for reading! This is big šŸ‘‡

If you just bring it up out of the blue, you activate their salesman self defense mechanism. It comes off desperate, and desperate people get nowhere.
Fortunately, these days you have many other ins, e.g., "Boy, this inflation is shit huh?"
Very good sum up!

I wish more bitcoiners will stop being shy and follow your example of how to deal with business owners.
Like you said: "Bitcoin adoption depends on YOU, each bitcoiner".

Right, let's stop seeing nocoiners as stupids and start thinking that maybe we are for not showing bitcoin correctly to the public opinion

Something to highlight here for your success, it's your effort building trust with the hotel owner. Without that, it's hard to let them understand the value it can provide when adopted

Just wanted you to understand and point your efforts toward that goal first, in case you really care to --in this case-- come back to that hotel and continue paying with Bitcoin).
With hotels particularly, if you reach that level of trust with the owner, you'll not only be able to pay with sats, but you'll also have KWC-free accommodation.
