What's all about

Oh man, l was an English teacher in Taiwan for a few years during the pandemic.
How are you liking it?
The students l taught, especially the older students, didnt want to learn much.

Welcome to SN! Thx for spending time on my bio haha.

I have always been an English teacher all my working life. Based in Singapore, short stints in Japan n Laos.
I don’t mind the wrestling with students part because I really like English. A month ago, my students told me that in their world, spill the tea means gossip. It’s just mind blowing to me language keeps evolving. Haha.

However, teaching is a profession that discourages deep work because we wear many hats and have to settle a lot of admin stuff. Guess I chose my poison.

I would love to teach in Taiwan one day because I’m Chinese. But I don’t think they would ever accept me as an English teacher haha.

Which part of Taiwan were you at?
N what are you doing these days?

reply

I was in Taipei.
I work in a processing plant now.
I find it a lot easier working on machinery than listening to kids talk back in a illogical manner in broken English. Lol

You intrigue me haha

Where r u originally from, if you don’t mind sharing?
Why stay in Taipei instead of venturing elsewhere? Wages are low n costs of living r high.

I’m back in Singapore now. My life plan was to teach EL all over the world, but alas I fell in love n decided to get married hahaha

I worked as a PR executive for three months after Japan. Decided that I rather have power struggles with disrespectful students than face the laptop screen the entire day

your guess was awesome, quite a bit more creative than what I had in mind! A very good chance I incorporate your creativity later on in the story though... thank you~

how are you able to keep your hat?

reply

Hello can u tell .e how to earn stats in sn

Just new here

reply

Actually, before my current streak, my record was 8 days haha.
I think one needs to zap others at least 100 sats per day in order to keep the hat. So, I have two rounds of zapping - once in the morning and another time in the evening - just to play safe. That way, I will definitely spend more than 100 sats.
Posting every day helps. When I reply to people who leave a comment on my posts, it is easy for me to zap to keep my cowboy hat.
Hope this helps!

reply

Ohh man, I never keep track how much I zap!! This is news to me. thanks sensei

Howdy @cryotosensei, glad to see you're one of the most prolific stackers around and a proud cowboy!

Just want to introduce you to the ~AGORA territory, a place to buy and sell your products or services with other stackers and obviously use bitcoin P2P as a medium of exchange.

Read this intro guide whenever needed, and if you have any feedback or suggestion on how we can make this space more useful, please do get in touch!

Wish you great and prosperous times around this wonderful corner of the internet!

Stay tuned, stack sats ;)
