took a ceramic workshop to make my own soapbox and tooth brush holder - I just can't find anything I like, so why not make it myself? πŸ‘€
I only played with this when I was a kid, and it's really fun to make the clay into different shapes and then play around; creation is about experimenting and turning your imagination into reality. πŸ§ͺ
Definitely, Natalia is a woman of many talents. In Portugal, there is also a strong tradition of pottery, mainly in the Alentejo region, but it also exists in the north of the country with a particularity: they use black clay.
reply
not yet, more like just being curious to see how things are being made. πŸ‘€ and wow, why they use black clay.?
reply
The reason for the black color is unclear for me, but the tradition dates back to the 16th century. It's worth noting that the clay itself isn't black. The black color is achieved during the firing process in a soenga, which is a type of oven dug into the ground. After the pottery is fired, it's covered with moss and earth, which gives it its final appearance.
reply
the more interesting thing for me is how people figured out that they can use clay to make things!
reply
Yes, it's a story that's over 9,000 years old. That's definitely very impressive.

discovering and learning from your surroundings, must be really fun being so free and got all the time you want to solve your own problems.

It's faster to learn with a good book πŸ˜‚

It's actually better to learn from a master who learned from his fathers, not necessarily faster, but you got to learn all the tricks and techniques.
doing is the best way to learn.

what's it to do with Patrick Swayze? πŸ‘€
reply
I think you owe Natalia a youtube clip, @carlosfandango

is it a good movie to watch? https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0099653/
now that @nemo is not sharing good movies tips anymore πŸ‘€
reply
Not really. It's kind of dumb. Patrick Swayze is a ghost who comes back to his wife. It was popular, though.

I bet you spoiled Titanic as well?
I was telling someone about Pearl Harbour and how I thought the response to the Japanese attack was really well portrayed from different viepoints etc… and someone turned to me and in all seriousness said β€˜Thanks for ruining it for us’
It’s aged pretty well I guess and at the time there were a few films in this genre (Flatliners being an excellent example) Worth watching at least once.
