There's lots of older posts, but I'd love to get more recent tips. I'm mostly a complete novice though I've messed around with some tools a while back.
What I'm looking for specifically is an image that I'm going to put on a card (could it put some of the text around the card too, like "Happy Birthday" around a round image with an interesting border?)
  • What's the best thing to do if I want to just generate some decent AI images along these lines, for free?
  • What if I want don't mind paying some sats for this?
  • What are the people using, who are doing this professionally?
I have used to generate lifestyle images for ecommerce
✅ Nice interface ✅ FOSS ✅ Better at realism by default ✅ Run it locally pretty painless on Windows ✅ Faster with good GPU ✅ Advanced tools for tinkering 🚫 Might not make the style you need without advanced tinkering
I have used to generate cartoons and graphics for tshirts
✅ Better at making designs/logos/clipart by default ✅ Free usage credits that recharge daily ✅ easy to use no setup needed 🚫 Slow sometimes 🚫 Microsoft account

I haven't dabbled with AI image creation yet. This looks like a good starting point. Thanks for sharing.

Here's a couple I have used:
Leonardo.Ai https://app.leonardo.ai/auth/login?callbackUrl=%2F There's free and paid versions. With free you'll find you have access to the basic settings and then there's other features which you need to pay for. There's also an image upscaler, motion and others. You get a certain amount of tokens to spend on image creation, which renew every 7 hours. Even in the basic package the resulys are very good
Bing Image Create is pretty good, you'll need a Microsoft account to use this. https://www.bing.com/images/create Lress control over the imnage creation than Leonardo>ai, but still good. Again you get a certain amount of tokens to spend every 24 hours (i think)
Midjourney is the industry leader, the quality is out of this world. Their free version finished a long time ago. It's accessed through discord

Lol, your post had TheWildHustle playing with image generation on CASCDR (you pay with sats and login with Alby) I typed cheese and it threw me an anime waifu pic....tried "box of crayons" and got another waifu pic.
Midjourney was the best experience I've had so far, but its super fiat (KYC Closed Source)
TheWildHustle switched models and finally received "an ok image"

I tried a couple of the suggested tools. They're all quite different in terms of ease of use and quality.
I started with Fooocus, but didn't get very far before I got an Nvidia driver error message which I'm not going to start looking at now.
The Bing image started out very "realistic" for the image I was trying to display, but also seemed kind of...off. Creepy. I don't know how to describe it any better. I told it to use cartoon imagery, and that turned out a little more normal, and that's what I ended up using.
I also tried out https://app.leonardo.ai. It was interesting but not really usable for what I wanted, at least not with just playing with if for 30 minutes.
It sure is interesting to play with this stuff.

Sometimes I use our GAB account to create AI images. They have an interesting AI image generator called GABBY you can use with a free account ... If you join, follow my media ministry = https://gab.eamedia.online
