Yesterday I had an encounter with the friendliest, most social wild turkey I have ever met.
You are like Dr Doolittle. Raccoons, cat-hats…

This dude was huge. I walked out the door and he heard me, then came running. I was scared, but I wondered what he would do. He just stopped a foot or two away and checked me out. No fear or aggression.

Do think they sense when thanksgiving is coming? Do they feel safe the rest of the time. I know people hunt them but it seems a little one-sided.

My father used to work in a poultry market. He thought turkeys could sense when you were coming to kill them. They would get very aggressive and focus on attacking your groin. That's why I'm still afraid of them. The turkeys I encounter are never hunted. It's prohibited.
