The Best Rotation
After it was evident there was no longer much point in watching the Mavs vs Clippers game, I switched over to MLB network to see what game they were featuring. It was the Dodgers and DBacks. Yoshinobu Yamamoto, the prized free agent pitcher from Japan the Dodgers signed in the offseason, was pitching, so I watched for a bit. I hadn't seen him pitch yet and he was great yesterday (6IP, 0ER, 5Ks). This had me thinking about the Dodgers rotation from next year when Ohtani is able to pitch again.
Obviously much can happen between now and next April but the Dodgers 2025 rotation would line up something like this:
Tyler Glasnow Shoehi Ohtani Walker Buehler Yoshinobu Yamamoto Clayton Kershaw
That's ridiculous.
On paper this is one of the best rotations of all time. It remains to be seen if it will turn out that way. Kershaw is getting old and a few of these guys have a questionable injury history but that looks like a rotation you would have in a video game with the force trade setting turned on.
Now this is not the first time the Dodgers have had an incredible rotation. We can go back to the days of Koufax, Drysdale, Sutton and certainly there have been other teams that have had great rotations like the Maddux, Glavine, Smoltz Braves teams and even more recently- the Astros boasted a rotation of Verlander, Cole, Greinke, Miley a few years back. But this projected Dodgers rotation has a chance to be as good as any that came before it.
On another note, I completely forgot UFC 301 was this weekend, so I will be rolling out a pick 'em for the event shortly.
Sats for all, GR
Those Braves teams were amazing. Of course, as a Mets fan, I'm pretty partial to the '86 Mets, where Gooden, Darling, and Ojeda all turned in sub-3 ERAs, and Sid Fernandez and Rick Aguilera (before he became a great reliever) both were pretty fantastic. All five of them finished in double digits in wins, too. Darling and Ojeda picked a great year for their career years.

Mets also had Cone in a couple of those rotations in the 80s as well, correct?
reply
Cone came over the next year and was a huge part of the '88 team that crashed and burned in the NLCS against the Dodgers. Some fantastic seasons in his prime. Frank Viola came over in '89 and was damned good for a few seasons, too (even if the team fell off quickly).

Mets always seem to find hard luck ways to lose.

Two words. Make that three. Kirk Fucking Gibson

'88 was hard luck, but man the years following were brought on themselves. There's a reason this book exists: https://i.imgur.com/1Um939o.png

What a title. Haha

You turned off the Clippers game!?!
They put Kawhi back in and they made the biggest comeback in playoff history!
reply
Not so. I stopped watching but I flipped back during commercials to see if they had mounted any sort of comeback. Looking good for basketball savant @siggy47 to pick up the pool prize but Clippers aren't out of it yet. Let's see if they can get old Kawhi on the court for games 6 and 7.

It was worth a shot. I went to bed well before the game ended.

Pacers looking good

TJ McConnell probably should have made my list of role guys.

I thought the Knicks would run away with this game the way it started.

Barkley says it all the time, you can't fake desperation.

Unfortunately the NBA games were not that interesting last night but the Edmonton Oilers won and moved onto the second round which is nice to see a Canadian team at least advancing in the playoffs. Hopefully the Canucks will do the same tonight so @gnilma can celebrate.

It's not over until it's over. Clips still have a shot at this by winning 2 straight, but definitely not with the way Harden and PG were playing last night. It seems the two of them still have not changed, they would have big games in the beginning of the series and disappear towards the end. Anyways, wish you luck since the odds are stacked against you.
Canucks are playing tomorrow night. Hopefully they can finish off the Predators and not have to come back for game 7.
reply
Yes we will see how the Clips rebound.
So many days off between games in the playoffs. They always used to just play one day on, one day off, but I guess they give an extra day for travel now.
