I was going to comment about Muun not being an LN wallet, then I see the word choice for the title ... "LN capable". Muun could be considered LN-capable, I guess, depending on your definition of LN-capable.
😂😂😂 Thanks for taking my words.
I will just add: there's no "best wallet" and users should not look for it. Users should look and compare all of them and choose to use 2-3 or even 4 as a regular basis. Each one have its own specific features (good or bad, each user consider them) that can be useful for the user in specific situations.
Sometimes even a custodial wallet is good for a specific situation, for example LNTXBOT (that is really underappreciated).
This obsession with "don't touch anything is custodial" is too extreme. You have to analyze each case and see where you need it. Sometimes you prefer a custodial service that is not KYC to be able to receive in a more private way and later move the funds to your own custody.
And also an important mention: custodial services always works when you need it. Let's be honest, we all use Zeus, Zap, TH, RTL or any other node wallet management app, but sometimes these simply fail, for various reasons. So is better to have prepared alternatives (even custodial) in the case your payment fail and later debug your "non-custodial" wallet. Is really embarrassing to go to a bar to pay your beer with "your own node" that doesn't have in that moment good liquidity or shity peers.
I use my own nodes as a funding source for some custodial services, from where I spend. Can I pay directly with my own nodes ? Yes, of course I can, but sometimes I prefer to give away a "public" info than a "private" info.
"Custodial" term have to be used wisely, is not a real bad term if you know what are you doing. Of course I would not push to be used only custodial services, but for example for newbies these services are a really nice experience not frustration.
As I explained in this guide, there are specific levels of usage:
https://darthcoin.substack.com/p/getting-started-ln
Users should start making a real difference between private and public and use it when is need it.
I don't think I'm demonizing custodial solutions, I just asked a questions, and also asked why.
not sure why you feel the need of pushing custodial solutions.
I use them sometimes but that's not the topic of this poll.
Exactly, that is why I put the "LN capable"
I think Muun is a key piece of the bitcoin ecosystem at this point.
I don't think is the best wallet for an everyday user, but receiving and sending bitcoin to the LN from the blockchain in a non custodial way, is a really important feature.
Caveat: BlueWallet is non-custodial for on-chain use, but by default, BlueWallet's LN wallet is custodial. However, you can connect it to your own LN node.
