I like to play a little what if rhetorical game here. Answer truly to yourself, but post what you like of course.
What if Obama behaved as Trump has and does? All off it. Would you be here arguing his side?
If Obama behaved like Trump, I would still say the same thing.
The data shows that he is funneling campaign funds to himself through his company.
Which is just ethically wrong.

Obama ordered the killing of American children by drone strike.
Trump covered up payments to a hooker.
One of them is charged for their crimes. Yes, this is only happening because it's Trump. All other presidents get away with their many crimes and the corporate press runs cover for them.

They all get away with military stuff. That's given, right. Obama took it to another level. But my question is an exercise in imagining they did the same.
reply
You're right.
I'd say Biden is the easier comparison.
- Both Biden and Trump did a quid-pro-quo with Ukraine: Trump got impeached over it and nothing happened to Biden.
- Both Biden and Trump had federal documents in their personal possession: Trump's home was raided over it and nothing happened to Biden.
On and on it goes

This is interesting perspective. You don't see the difference in respondant behavior resulting in different treatment in the documents cases?
reply
I think the differences that people point out can be used in both directions and only really serve to muddy the waters. All prior presidents have taken documents with them and they've all refused to turn over certain documents when ordered to do so. It turns into a negotiation with the Federal records officers.
The point is that in case after case Trump is treated differently by the regime than all seemingly similar prior cases.
On any specific case, reasonable arguments can be made for why it's different this time, but I think there's a clear signal that can be read through all the noise: most presidents are given as much benefit of the doubt as possible, while Trump is given the least.
reply
Yeah, but you have to agree he did the most and of the kind of stuff the masters don't like. I get why he is popular, but that is also why he won't make it.
They are two sides of the same coin flipped by the same hand.
Don't be fooled.
reply
I'm not at all convinced that Trump has done more shady stuff than any of the others.
I'm not saying he didn't, but I don't know how we're supposed to assess this when the asymmetry of treatment is so great.
Do you really think Trump has done more illegal stuff than the Clintons? That would surprise me if it were true.
They are both corrupt.
Biden will have his day in court.
reply
Biden was senator from Delaware, banking and business incorporation capital of the U.S. Don't be foolish in thinking he will caught with anything.
reply
He will not. Biden was deemed not mentally competent to stand trial, when they attempted to hold him accountable.
reply
You didn't read that indictment yourself, did you?
reply
Enlighten me.
I'm aware that I overstated the claim, but I think it's correct in essence.
They are all corrupt. The system requires it. Don't play this game of us vs. them. It is what they want!

Trump is certainly no moral saint.
The issue here is selective enforcement. There are many instances of Trump being held accountable for things that Democrats are known to have done as well.
There are rulers and there are ruled. The rulers have made it clear that Trump is not welcome in their club.

Obama doesn’t own any businesses
He didn’t build anything

I have trouble following you.

Obama doesn’t own any hotels so he wouldn’t have the same conflict of interest as Trump
My point is should Trump stay at a motel 6 to avoid the possibility or appearance of a conflict of interest regarding campaign expenses and reimbursements?
